Abstract
Description
종래의 단열제는 주로 우레탄이나 스티로폴 또는 석면 등이 주재료로 사용되고 있는데 이는 심각한 문제를 안고 있다. 즉 우레탄이나 스티로폴로 제작한 단열제는 연소시에 치명적인 독가스를 배출하므로 건축물에 화재가 발생하면 인명피해를 입게 되고, 또한 석면은 발암물질이 내포되어 있다는 문제점이 있다. 건축물은 사람이 안전하고 안락하게 주거하거나 머무를 수 있어야 한다. 그런데 이러한 건축물에 사람의 생명을 위협하는 재료가 사용된다면 그 문제점은 시급히 제거해야 할 과제인 것이다.Conventional insulation is mainly used as a main material such as urethane, styropol or asbestos, which is a serious problem. 우레탄이나 스티로폴 단열제는 건축자재로서 편리한 면과 해로운 면을 동시에 가지고 있다. 그 양면을 살펴 보건데, 그 제품을 건축물에 시공할 때는 공법상 대단히 편리하다. 그러나 그 제품들은 사람의 생명을 위협하는 성질을 가지고 있다. 모든 상품이 인간의 편익을 도모하는 데 그 존재 이유가 있다면 인간의 생명을 위협하는 상품은 이 세상에 존재해서는 안 된다. 단열제는 건축물의 열을 보호하거나 차단하기 위한 목적으로 사용된다. 시공 상의 편리성이 목적이 아니고 열을 보호하거나 차단하는 것이 주목적이며 시공 상의 편리성은 부차적인 문제일 뿐이다. 그런데 사람의 생명을 위협하는 단열제를 단순히 시공상 편리하다는 이유 때문에 사용한다는 것은 문제가 아닐 수 없다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때 사람의 생명을 위협하는 단열재 사용은 즉시 중단하고 시급히 대체 자재를 개발해서 사용해야 한다. 이제는 우레탄이나 스티로폴 같은 반인간적이고 반환경적이며 더구나 수입해서 사용하는 단열제 사용을 억제하고 그 대체 단열제를 개발해서 사용해야 한다.Urethane or styropol insulation has both convenient and harmful side as building materials.
