본 발명의 실시 예에 의한 멀티 미디어 방송 신호를 수신하는 이동통신 단말기가 알람 데이터 서비스를 제공하는 서버로부터 알람 신호를 제공받는 방법을 나타낸다. 방송국은 디지털 멀티 미디어 방송 신호를 다중화하여 송출한다. 본 발명에 의한 이동통신 단말기는 멀티 미디어 방송 신호를 수신하여 디코딩하여 재생한다. 재생 중 녹화 구동 신호를 검출하여 해당 방송 구간을 녹화 저장하거나 미리 설정된 사용자의 녹화 예약 시간대에 방송 신호를 녹화한다. 스케줄 알람 메뉴 항목을 실행하여 알람 날짜, 시간, 스케줄 내용 입력, 알람 종류 등의 스케줄 알람 정보를 설정한다. 알람 경로는 설정된 스케줄 알람 종류에 따라서 방송 신호를 자 체 저장한 단말기로부터와, 혹은 서버에 스케줄 알람 정보를 등록하고 알람 시각에 설정된 알람 신호를 다운로드하는 경우이다. 본 발명의 다른 실시 예에 의한 설정된 단말기의 스케줄 알람 신호 및 스케줄 알람 정보를 서버에 업로드한다. 단말기는 설정된 스케줄 알람 정보를 등록하기 위한 발신 호를 송신한다. 이때 단말기는 이동통신망의 기지국 및 이동 교환국과 연동하여 단말기의 인증을 수행하고 데이터 전송을 위한 왑(WAP)게이드웨이와 연결된다. 등록된 단말기의 호스트 서버와 연결되어 단말기는 스케줄 알람 정보 데이터를 업로드하고 설정된 스케줄 알람 시각을 인지하여 호스트 서버로부터 등록된 멀티 미디어 알람 신호를 다운로드한다. 이때 설정된 알람 종류에 따라 멀티 미디어 방송 신호 또는 알람 데이터 서비스를 다운로드한다. 알람 데이터 서비스는 날씨, 증권, 뉴스, 교통정보, 모닝콜, 스케줄 정보 등의 사용자 요청 정보를 전송하면서 알람 신호로 단말기에 전송된다. 다운로드한 멀티 미디어 알람 신호를 오디오 신호와 비디오 신호로 출력한다.
