A device and a method for providing contents by each time slot are provided to offer preferred contents of a user as a playlist by time schedule, reconfigure the playlist by the time schedule and diversely configure a playlist configuration type. A statistics part(500) analyzes information of the contents. A configuring part(510) configures the analyzed contents as the playlist by the time schedule. The analyzed contents are the contents previously played in a player(520), and the information of the contents includes a playing time schedule, a genre and a playing frequency of the contents. The playlist of the contents is configured based on a ratio of the genres according to a time schedule classification method and is reconfigured by a user selection.
