Abstract

A method for displaying a standby screen of a portable terminal is provided to enable a user to determine plural standby screens to be displayed whenever a folder is open, and to sequentially or randomly display the standby screens whenever the folder is open, so that the user can always enjoy new standby screens. A controller selects plural standby screens, and determines a sequential display method or a random display method. When a folder opening is recognized, the controller confirms whether pre-selected plural standby screens exist. If so, and if the sequential display method is set, the controller displays the standby screens according to the frequency of folder open. When setting the standby screens, the controller determines the number of sequentially displayed standby screens whenever a folder is open. The controller displays plural standby screen images that the user wants to determine as standby screens.
