Abstract

PURPOSE: A channel switching method for a TV is provided to register name to a desired channel by a user and to switch the channel by using the registered name. CONSTITUTION: When registering a name to a channel, in a number input mode state, a user selects the corresponding channel by inputting a desired channel number, switches a present mode into a character input mode by pressing down a mode key, selects and stores a name capable of memorizing easily such as 'FOOD' to the present selected channel. When tuning a channel, a user inputs a specific character such as 'FOOD' in the character input mode. Thereafter, a CPU(Central Processing Unit) checks whether there is a channel registered by the name of 'FOOD' and switches the present channel into the channel number of 50 as the 'FOOD' mapping channel when there is the channel registered by the name of 'FOOD'.
