Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for preventing copy of video signals is provided to detect whether or not a copy guard signal exists from analog video signals to convert the copy guard signal into a digital signal, and to include the converted signal in digital video signals for transmission or display, thereby protecting the video signals even after the analog video signals are converted into the digital video signals. CONSTITUTION: A set-top-box receives analog video signals(200). A copy guard signal detector of the set-top-box detects whether or not a copy guard signal exists from a VBI(Vertical Blanking Interval) of the received analog video signals(201). If a copy guard signal is detected(202), a signal processor converts the copy guard signal into a digital signal(203). The signal processor converts the analog video signals into digital video signals, processes the converted signals into MPEG-2(Moving Picture Experts Group-2) signals, and inserts the digital copy guard signal in PSI(Program Specific Information) of the MPEG-2 signals(204). The MPEG-2 video signals in which the digital copy guard signal is inserted are transmitted to a DVR(Digital Video Recorder) in wired/wireless(205).
