Description

투사표시 장치의 화면 밝기 조절 방법{Method for control light screen of projection display system}Method for adjusting screen brightness of projection display device {Method for control light screen of projection display system}

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a projection display device, and more particularly, to a method of adjusting a screen brightness of a projection display device that senses screen brightness according to an image signal and adjusts brightness of a display device and a light source.

Recently, a flat panel display that has a large thickness and realizes a large screen has been attracting attention by replacing a conventional CRT display having a limited screen size and a large system size.

Such display devices include LCDs, PDPs, projection systems, and the like. Currently, display methods using projections for large screens have become mainstream.

In general, an LCD projection system projects light from a light source onto an LCD panel, and an image of the LCD panel is imaged on a screen using a projection optical system to view an image formed on the screen.

1 is a view showing the configuration of a conventional projection display device.

Referring to FIG. 1, the light emitted from the lamp 1 is collected in one direction by the reflector 2 and travels and is irradiated to the LCD panel 4 by the illumination optical system 3.

In addition, the LCD panel 4 displays an image by adjusting the amount of light by an electrical signal of the image signal controller 9 which receives the image signal and processes the signal.

The displayed image is enlarged and projected onto the screen 6 by the projection optical system 5 so that the user can view the image from the front or the rear of the screen.

On the other hand, the power controller 7 for controlling the power supply of the projection display device is connected to an external power supply to supply power to each circuit component and operate the lamp controller 8 to start the lamp.

In the projection display device as described above, a lamp 1, which is a light source, is applied with a constant voltage and current to emit a certain amount of light and adjusts transmittance at each pixel of the LCD panel 4 according to an image signal. The brightness is adjusted and the overall image is realized.

However, such a projection display device does not change the brightness of the light source even when the image signal shows a bright screen or a dark screen, and only the LCD panel which is the display device adjusts the brightness by adjusting the transmittance, so that a dark screen such as a night scene When displaying the LCD panel does not completely block the light, the screen leaks because of light leaks, gray scale expression is not accurate, there is a problem that the contrast is reduced.

In addition, when displaying a bright screen, there is a problem that brightness is limited and screen gradation brightness is saturated, resulting in a decrease in contrast of an image and a decrease in an image dynamic range.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, by detecting the screen brightness state of the image signal to improve the screen brightness, contrast enhancement, dynamics by adjusting the brightness of the light source interlocked with the image signal It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of controlling screen brightness of a projection display device having an improved range.

2 is a diagram illustrating a configuration of a projection display device according to the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 2, the projection display device according to the present invention receives an image by receiving light from a light source 11 and a reflector 12 for collecting light from the light source and moving the light in one direction, an illumination optical system 13 for irradiating light, and an image of the light source. A display element 14 for displaying an image by a signal, a projection optical system 15 for magnifying and projecting an image of the display element 14, and a screen 16 for forming an image.

In addition, the video signal is input to the power controller 17 and the light source controller 18 for supplying power to each circuit unit and the light source 11 to control the brightness of the light source 11 is connected to the power source The image signal controller 19 is configured to process and transmit the image signal to the display element 14, and the image brightness sensor 20 adjusts the brightness of the image signal.

In the operation of the projection display device configured as described above, the light emitted from the light source 11 is collected in one direction by the reflecting mirror 12 and proceeds.

The advanced light is irradiated to the display element 14 by the illumination optical system 13.

The display element 14 displays an image by an image signal of a signal processing unit. As the display element 14, elements such as an LCD panel, a reflective LCD panel, and a digital micro mirror (DMD) are used.

Subsequently, the image implemented in the display element 14 is enlarged and projected by the projection optical system 15 to form an image on the screen 16, and the user views the screen from the front or the rear of the screen 16.

On the other hand, the power controller 17 is connected to the external power supply to supply power to operate the entire projection display device.

The light source controller 18 supplied with power from the power controller 17 supplies a voltage and a current to the light source 11 to activate the light source 11.

The input image signal is analyzed by the image brightness sensor 20 to detect the brightness of the video signal.

That is, the brightness of the screen is analyzed on the basis of the brightness determination criteria by extracting the image brightness through the Y signal or the R, G, B signal indicating the brightness of the video signal.

For example, based on the Y signal 100, a bright screen of 80 or more, a slightly bright screen of 60 or more, a dark screen of 20 or less, a slightly dark screen of 40 or less, and a middle screen may be separated into a normal screen.

The image brightness sensor 20 generates a signal for the brightness state and is transmitted to the image signal controller 19 together with the image signal.

When the image signal passing through the image brightness detector 20 is processed by the image signal controller 19 and sent to the display element 14, the display element 14 displays an image according to the image signal.

The image signal controller 19 receives a signal for the brightness state of the corresponding video signal from the image brightness detecting unit 20 and controls the light source 11 to match the brightness state.

That is, a corresponding signal is sent to the light source controller 18 according to the brightness state of the image, and the light source controller 18 adjusts the current or voltage and adjusts the brightness of the light source to match the brightness state of the image signal.

For example, if a bright image such as a day sky is displayed, the image brightness detecting unit 20 detects a bright screen state, generates a bright screen state signal, and adjusts the driving current or voltage of the light source according to the signal. Increase the brightness of (11) to display the brightness higher than the original video signal.

As a result, the user may enjoy a brighter and clearer view of the bright image.

In addition, a screen suitable for a dark screen or a brightness level may be displayed by adjusting screen brightness in the same manner.

3 is a flowchart illustrating a brightness control method of the projection display apparatus according to the present invention.

(S11).First, an image signal is input to an image brightness sensor (S11).

(S12).In operation S12, the input signal determines whether the screen of the corresponding video signal is a bright image or a dark image.

(S13).As a result of the determination (S12), in the case of a bright image, the lamp driving power is increased (S13).

(S14).Then, after increasing the lamp driving power, the lamp brightness is increased (S14).

(S15 ~ S16).Subsequently, the image signal is brightened and the image brightness is increased (S15 to S16).

(S17).On the other hand, in the dark image, the lamp driving power is reduced (S17).

(S18).Then, after reducing the lamp driving power, the lamp brightness is reduced (S18).

(S19 ~ S20).Subsequently, the image signal is darkened and the image brightness is reduced (S19 to S20).

As described above, the present invention implements a brighter image more brightly, and a darker screen is darker, thereby enabling various and richer image expressions, and increasing the brightness of the image, thereby displaying a brighter image.

In addition, there is an effect of displaying a clear image by increasing the contrast of the image.

Those skilled in the art will appreciate that various changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention.

Therefore, the technical scope of the present invention should not be limited to the contents described in the embodiments, but should be defined by the claims.
