Description
Industrial use]
The present invention relates to a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition and a field emission device of a field emission device, and more particularly, to a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition and an electric field of a field emission device that form a thick film to exhibit a uniform and high emission current density. It relates to an emitting device.
Prior art]
In general, a field emission device forms a strong electric field in an emitter, which emits electrons, and emits cold electrons by a tunneling effect, and the emitted electrons move in a vacuum to collide with a fluorescent film formed on the anode electrode. It is a display element that implements a predetermined image by emitting a phosphor.
However, the metal or semiconductor material used as the micro tip of the field emission display device has a problem that the voltage applied to the gate electrode must be high due to a large work function. In addition, since the residual gas particles in the vacuum collide with the electrons and ionize, and the gas ions collide with the micro tip to damage the micro tip, the micro tip may be destroyed. Because of the contamination, there is a problem in that the performance and lifespan of the field emission display device are reduced.
The field emission display device can save energy density and can prolong life, compared to a device (thermal electron emission source) using thermal energy density. Such a field emission display device uses a spin't type field emission array made mainly of a metal such as molybdenum (Mo) or a semiconductor material such as silicon (Si). It uses the principle of emitting electrons by applying an electric field to the micro tip using a gate electrode.
Recently, a method of forming a thick film using carbon nanotubes as an electron emission source has been used. Carbon nanotubes have a low electron emission field, excellent chemical stability, and mechanically strong properties. Therefore, carbon nanotubes are expected to replace conventional metals or semiconductor materials as electron emission sources.
The thick carbon nanotube emitter is prepared by preparing a paste containing carbon nanotube powder, glass frit, an organic binder resin, and an organic solvent, screen printing on an electrode, and then firing at a high temperature of 400 ° C. or higher under an air atmosphere. However, in general, carbon-based materials are very unstable at high temperatures of 400 ° C. or higher in an oxygen-containing air atmosphere, and a large amount of carbon nanotubes are lost during firing. There was this.
In addition, a method of manufacturing a thick carbon nanotube emitter has been introduced by fixing the ratio of the carbon nanotube powder and the glass frit in a ratio of 4: 1. However, if the solid content is increased in order to increase the film thickness after firing, the carbon nanotube content is relatively increased so that the thickness of the exposed portion of the carbon nanotube paste is greatly reduced. Therefore, there was a limit in increasing the content of carbon nanotubes to obtain a high emission current density.
In addition, in order to solve the problem, a method of fixing the content of glass frit and simply increasing the content of carbon nanotubes has been introduced. However, when the emitter is manufactured from the carbon nanotube paste prepared as described above, the exposure thickness not only decreases during exposure, but also the amount of carbon nanotubes remaining as xanthan after firing decreases, making it difficult to obtain a film of a carbon nanotube emitter having a desired thickness. have.
In addition, in manufacturing a carbon nanotube field emission display device using a thick film method, a method of adding a fine metal powder in order to increase the adhesion properties and conductivity of the thick film has been introduced. However, when the thick film surface is covered with the fine metal powder, there is a problem that the field emission characteristics of the device is reduced.
In order to solve the above problem, Korean Patent Application No. 2000-57116 describes a method of protruding carbon nanotubes to the surface during the development process using a photosensitive resin. U. S. Patent No. 5,026, 624 also discloses a method of producing an epoxy photosensitive resin as such a photosensitive resin. However, there is a problem that the stability of the photosensitive material against the field emission must be secured and the stabilization time of the process is required. In addition, U.S. Patent No. 5,912,106 introduces a method of improving the image quality and resolution of a field emission device using an optical crosslinking resin as a photopolymerization initiator.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition for producing a field emission device capable of forming a thick film to exhibit a uniform and high emission current density.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention comprises a carbon nanotube, glass frit, glass powder, an organic binder resin and an organic solvent, the content of the glass powder is 200 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes It provides a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the emitting device.
The present invention also provides a method for producing an emitter from the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
The present invention also provides a field emission device comprising an emitter made of photosensitive carbon nanotube paste.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.
The photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention contains carbon nanotubes, glass frit, glass powder, organic binder resin, and organic solvent.
In order for the emitter made of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention to exhibit high emission current density, the content of the glass powder is preferably 200 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes.
If the content of the glass powder is less than 200 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the carbon nanotubes, there is a problem that the thickness of the film after exposure and aqueous is thinned. When the content of the glass powder exceeds 500 parts by weight, the glass powder is added to increase the thickness of the film after exposure and baking. It does not increase in proportion to the content of is not economical disadvantages and the emission current density of the manufactured emitter is disadvantageous because there is a problem.
Thus, when the glass powder is added to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device, the glass powder particles are transparent to self-rays so that the glass powder particles in the carbon nanotube paste are exposed to the ultraviolet path during exposure. It is formed to increase the exposure thickness and the glass powder remains after firing serves to thicken the film of the carbon nanotube paste.
In order for the emitter made of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste of the field emission device of the present invention to exhibit high discharge current density, the content of the carbon nanotubes is preferably 5 to 50 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the organic binder resin.
When the content of the carbon nanotubes is less than 5 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the organic binder resin, the emission current density is not low, and when the content is more than 50 parts by weight, the amount of ultraviolet light permeated to the carbon nanotube film during exposure is small, and thus the desired film thickness. There is a problem that an emitter containing a carbon nanotube paste cannot be obtained.
In addition, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention further includes a glass frit as a filler.
The preferred content of the glass frit is 1 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes. If the content of the glass frit is less than 1 part by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the carbon nanotubes, the function as a filler is insignificant. If the content of the glass frit exceeds 500 parts by weight, the viscosity of the paste becomes too large, which makes the printing process difficult and release of the emitter including the paste. There is a problem that the current density is also lowered.
In addition, since the viscosity increases as the content of the carbon nanotubes or the glass powder increases, the printability is deteriorated, so that the organic binder resin is added to the carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention in order to improve the printability by adjusting the viscosity. Add more.
Preferred organic binder resins include ethyl cellulose, nitro cellulose, acrylic resin and the like. In addition, the content of the added organic binder resin is preferably 40 to 80% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
When the content of the organic binder resin is less than 40% by weight relative to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition becomes too high, resulting in poor printability, flowability, and the like, resulting in poor pattern formation. If it exceeds, the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is lowered, resulting in poor printability, flowability, etc., and poor drying, resulting in poor pattern formation during exposure development.
In addition, the composition for forming carbon nanotube emitters of the field emission device of the present invention further includes an organic solvent.
As the content of carbon nanotubes increases, the viscosity decreases the printability. However, when the boiling point is around 200 ° C. and an organic solvent capable of dissolving the organic binder resin, such as ethyl cellulose, nitro cellulose, and acrylic resin, is added, the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is appropriately reduced to improve printability. do.
As the organic solvent, at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of butyl carbitol acetate (BCA), terpineol (TP), toluene, texanol and butyl carbitol (BC) may be preferably used.
The preferred content of the organic solvent is 1 to 20% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition. If the content of the organic solvent is less than 1% by weight relative to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, the viscosity of the composition becomes too large, resulting in poor printability, and when the content of the organic solvent exceeds 20% by weight, the viscosity of the composition is too low.
The viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is preferably 15,000 cp to 100,000 cp. If the viscosity of the composition for forming carbon nanotube emitters is less than 15,000 cp, the pattern spreads and is not clear. If the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition exceeds 100,000 cp, there is a problem in that the surface of the printed film becomes rough and the printability becomes poor. .
The present invention also comprises the steps of (a) mixing the carbon nanotube powder, glass frit, glass powder and an organic binder resin to prepare a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, followed by stirring; (b) adjusting the viscosity of the carbon nanotube paste composition by adding an organic solvent to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition after stirring; (c) coating the carbon nanotube paste composition: (d) drying the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition; (e) exposing the dried photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition; (f) developing the exposed photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition; And (g) provides a method for producing a photosensitive carbon nanotube emitter comprising the step of firing the developed photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
First, carbon nanotube powder, glass frit, glass powder, and an organic binder resin are mixed to prepare a photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, and the composition is stirred (step (a)). In this case, the mixing method is a ball mill or a mixer which is generally used. It is also more preferable to use a disperser to uniformly disperse the carbon nanotubes.
When the carbon nanotubes added to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the present invention are prepared by heat treatment in advance in a vacuum atmosphere, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition with improved thermal stability can be prepared.
The content of the carbon nanotubes is preferably 5 to 50 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the organic binder resin.
In addition, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention further comprises glass frit and glass powder as a filler.
In addition, in order for the emitter made of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention to exhibit high emission current density, the content of the glass powder is preferably 200 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes. Do. If the content of the glass powder is less than 200 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes, there is a problem in that the film thickness is reduced after firing. When the content of the glass powder exceeds 500 parts by weight, the emission current density is lowered and the viscosity of the paste is too high, so that the printability is high. It is not preferable because there is a problem of worsening.
This glass powder also acts as a filler like glass frit.
In addition, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device of the present invention further includes an organic binder resin to increase the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste.
Preferred organic binder resins include ethyl cellulose, nitro cellulose, acrylic resin and the like. In addition, the content of the added organic binder resin is preferably 40 to 80% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
When the content of the organic binder resin is less than 40% by weight relative to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition becomes too high, resulting in poor printability, flowability, and the like, and poor pattern formation. When the content exceeds 80 wt% with respect to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, the viscosity of the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is too low, which also leads to poor flammability, poor flowability, and poor drying, and thus poor pattern formation during exposure development. There is a problem.
In addition, the composition for forming carbon nanotube emitters of the field emission device of the present invention further includes an organic solvent.
As the content of carbon nanotubes increases, the printability worsens when the viscosity exceeds 10 000 cp.
The preferred content of this organic solvent is 1 to 20% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition. If the content of the organic solvent is less than 1% by weight relative to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, the viscosity of the composition becomes too large, resulting in poor printability, and if the content of the organic solvent exceeds 20% by weight, the viscosity of the composition is too low.
In addition, an antifoaming agent, a dispersing agent, a photoinitiator or a resolution increasing agent may be further added to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
As an antifoamer or a dispersing agent, silicone polyester resin etc. can be used preferably. In addition, the amount of these antifoaming agents or dispersants is preferably 0 to 10% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
As the photoinitiator, an acrylate type is preferable, and the amount of the photoinitiator is preferably 1 to 20% by weight based on the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition.
If the content of the photoinitiator is less than 1% by weight with respect to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, there is a problem in that the exposure characteristics are difficult to be exposed, and when the content of the photoinitiator exceeds 20% by weight, the photoreaction proceeds rapidly on the surface due to excessive photoinitiator surface. This hardening causes a problem that the exposure film thickness is reduced by shielding the ultraviolet light during exposure.
In addition, a monomer component of acrylate heat may be further added as a resolution increasing agent to increase the resolution of the pattern. In this case, the content of the preferred acrylate monomer component is preferably 0 to 30 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the organic binder resin.
An organic solvent is added to the stirred photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition to adjust the viscosity of the carbon nanotube paste (step (b)).
As the content of carbon nanotubes increases, the viscosity decreases the printability. However, when the boiling point is around 200 ° C. and an organic solvent capable of dissolving the organic binder resin such as ethyl cellulose, nitro cellulose, acrylic resin, etc. is added, the viscosity does not increase even if the content of carbon nanotubes is increased. Not bad
The organic solvent is preferably at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of butyl carbitol acetate (BCA), terpineol (TP), toluene, texanol and butyl carbitol (BC).
When the organic solvent is added, the organic solvent may dissolve the binder resin to lower the viscosity of the composition for forming carbon nanotube emitters.
Then, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition having a suitable viscosity is coated (step (c)). The coating process may be carried out using spin coating, screen printing, roll coating or the like.
Then, the coated photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is dried (step (d)). It is preferable to dry for 10 minutes-1 hour at 90-110 degreeC as dry conditions.
The dried photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is then exposed to a parallel exposure machine using the desired pattern mask (step (e)). As the exposure light source, ultraviolet rays are preferable, and the exposure energy density is preferably 100 to 20,000 mJ / cm 2. If the exposure energy density is less than 100 mJ / cm 2, there is a problem in that the adhesion is weak and the pattern is not formed well. If the exposure energy density exceeds 20,000 mJ / cm 2, the pattern shape is too large due to scattering of ultraviolet rays.
After exposure, the exposed photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is developed (step (f)). As the developer, 0.4-5% aqueous Na 2 CO 3 solution, acetone, ethanol and mixtures thereof can be preferably used.
The developed photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is then calcined (step (g)).
In order to sinter the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition, a high temperature baking heat treatment process is performed. The heat treatment process is preferably carried out in a furnace of air, nitrogen, inert gas or vacuum.
When fabricating a photosensitive carbon nanotube thick film type anode, a heat treatment process is required to minimize adhesion between carbon nanotubes and the cathode, minimize outgassing, and to remove organic binder resin components. The resin component included in the composition can be evaporated and determined in consideration of the temperature at which the glass frit components can be sintered.
When the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition is heat-treated in an air, vacuum, nitrogen or inert gas atmosphere, incomplete parts of the paste composition are crystallized, and amorphous carbons around the carbon nanotubes are crystallized with graphite to form a carbon nanotube protective layer. Increase the thermal stability of the carbon nanotube paste.
The firing temperature is preferably 400 to 500 ° C. The organic binder resin evaporates when the firing temperature is less than 400 ° C., but the glass frit is not sintered, resulting in low adhesion to the thick film. There is this.
Moreover, as for baking time, 10-30 minutes are preferable. If the firing time is less than 10 minutes, there is a problem that the amorphous carbon is not crystallized, if the firing time exceeds 30 minutes, the productivity is lowered, carbon nanotubes are combined with the remaining oxygen is lost, which is not preferable.
As described above, the carbon nanotubes heat-treated at high temperatures may crystallize amorphous carbons that easily react with oxygen, thereby increasing thermal properties of the carbon powder even in an air atmosphere. As a result, a considerable amount of carbon materials remain after the thermal firing, and the carbon nanotube emitter film becomes thick, indicating high emission current density.
As described above, the emitter film prepared from the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition of the field emission device may have a thickness of up to 4.5 μm, and the emission current density is 1/500 duty cycle and 7.5 V / μm. It increases to 100 mA / cm 2 at the intensity of the electromagnetic field.
In addition, the three-electrode carbon nanotube field emission device may be manufactured by extruding an emitter prepared by using the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste prepared by the above method.
Hereinafter, preferred examples and comparative examples of the present invention are described. The following examples are described for the purpose of more clearly expressing the present invention, but the contents of the present invention are not limited to the following examples.
1)(Example 1)
10 g of carbon nanotube powder and 20 g of glass frit (800 L glass frit) were mixed, and 20 g of the glass powder was added to the mixture with respect to the carbon nanotube powder, 1/3 filled into a ball mill vessel, and then ground.
60 g of acrylate resin was added to the ground mixture and stirred to prepare a carbon nanotube paste. In order to adjust the viscosity of this paste, 10 wt% of terpineol was added to adjust the viscosity of the paste to 25,000 cp.
After printing the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste thus prepared, the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste was exposed with a parallel exposure machine using a pattern mask with an exposure energy of 1,000 mJ / cm 2 in consideration of the appropriate film thickness.
After exposure, the carbon nanotube paste was fired to prepare a carbon nanotube emitter.
1)(Comparative Example 1)
A carbon nanotube emitter was prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that 4 g of glass frit was not used without using the glass powder.
Film thickness measurement
The change in film thickness of the photosensitive carbon nanotube pastes of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 was measured and the results are shown in FIG. 1. FIG. 1 shows the photosensitive carbon nano of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1. FIG. It is a graph showing the change of the film thickness with the increase of the exposure energy of the emitter made of the tube paste. As shown in FIG. 1, the thickness of the emitter film prepared by the method of Example 1 was 4.5 μm at an exposure energy of 100 to 20,000 mJ / cm 2. However, the thickness of the emitter film of Comparative Example 1 was only 0.5 µm within the range of the exposure energy.
Therefore, when the glass frit is mixed with the glass frit and added to the photosensitive carbon nanotube paste composition as in the present invention, it can be seen that the emitter film is thickened to produce an emitter having excellent emission current density. .
When the film thickness is 2 μm or more, sufficient emission current can be secured, but the emission current characteristics are not improved in proportion to the thickness of the film. Therefore, it can be said that it is sufficient to form a film thickness that can be close to the gate height when the triode emitter is formed and the pinhole does not occur.
FIG. 2 is a graph showing the emission current density with respect to the intensity of the electromagnetic field after activation of the emitters prepared from the photosensitive carbon nanotube pastes of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1. FIG. As shown in FIG. 2, the emission current density of the emitter manufactured by the method of Comparative Example 1 was only 20 mA / cm 2 at a duty cycle of 1/500 and an intensity of 7.5 V / μm of the electromagnetic field. The emission current density of the emitter manufactured by the method was higher than 100 이상 / ㎠ in the same conditions as in Comparative Example 1.
3A and 3B are light emission photographs after the 200/160 μm line patterns of the photosensitive carbon nanotube pastes of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1, respectively. As shown in Figure 3a, it can be seen that the film of the carbon nanotube emitter of Example 1 is superior to the film of the carbon nanotube emitter of Comparative Example 1.
