Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an alphabet input device designed to overcome the complexity of the character input due to the limitation of the number of buttons in a small device such as a mobile phone, PDA, etc., the position of the alphabet according to the frequency of use of the alphabet when entering the English alphabet The present invention relates to an alphabet input device capable of inputting a desired sentence with a minimum number of inputs.
Modern devices such as mobile phones, pagers, small game consoles, and PDAs have become smaller and have fewer buttons. Accordingly, since English must be input with a limited input button, several characters are assigned to one button. If you want to enter the last letter of a button, you must press the number of buttons assigned to it. In the existing input device, the alphabet assigned to each button is arranged in order regardless of the frequency. Therefore, the commonly used alphabets E, O, N, I, R, H require more than one input.
In the case of a mobile phone, for example, since only 10 character input keys are used, a number of alphabets must be assigned to one button. However, the position of the alphabet is assigned in order regardless of the frequency of the alphabet. Therefore, a user often needs to press a button two or more times to input an English text. In the existing system using this method, since the number of button presses increases when a user inputs an English sentence, it takes a lot of time and effort to send a message.
도2는 cryptography and network security -principles and practice-(William Stallings 저 Prentice-Hall 1999)에서 도3은 cryptography An introduction to Computer Security (JENNIFER SEBERRY, JOSEF PIEPRZYK 저 Prentice-Hall 1989)에서 도4는http://library.thinkquest.org/27993/crypto/classic/analysis3.shtml?tqskip=1에서 구한 자료이다. The present invention proposes a character input device that can input a desired sentence with a minimum input by analyzing the actual frequency of use of each alphabet to properly arrange the alphabet to overcome this. The frequency of the alphabet was calculated with reference to cryptographic books and data on the Internet. Figure 2 shows cryptography and network security -principles and practice- (William Stallings, Prentice-Hall 1999). Data from /library.thinkquest.org/27993/crypto/classic/analysis3.shtml?tqskip=1. Based on these data, we propose an input system that improves the input efficiency by assigning high frequency alphabets to the first letter of the button and relatively low frequency alphabets to the second or third of the button.

First, the average frequency of each alphabet is shown in Table 1.
As shown in the table, each alphabet has a different frequency. In the present invention, the frequently used 'E, T, A, O, N, I, R, S', etc. are easily written at a time and relatively less used alphabet such as 'K, X, Q, J, Z' Are designed to print after several presses. As shown in Fig. 1, the first letters of each button are assigned alphabets of higher frequency, the second alphabets are assigned in the order of higher frequency among the remaining alphabets, and the third and fourth alphabets are assigned in the same manner. And when the last letter of each button is printed, the cursor moves forward one space, which is designed to wait for the next input. For example, if you press V three times in the letters H, F, and V assigned to button 5 to select V, the cursor will automatically move to the right of one cell and wait for the next input. If you're used to typing English letters, it's more efficient to delete a letter and type it again than to move back from V to H, just in case you make a mistake. Because when you enter a series of VVs, it is better to enter the first V and then enter the second V without pressing the cursor forward button, rather than pressing the button to advance one space to the right and then entering V again. Because it is more efficient. The most commonly used E and T are assigned to a single button, so that they are efficient for continuous use. Button 0 is a special case and the fingers are not good enough, so Y, X, which is less frequent than M, F, and P, is assigned as the first second alphabet. The distinction between uppercase and lowercase letters is provided by placing a new function key so that the uppercase and lowercase letters are alternately changed each time the key is pressed.
In the case of inputting the English text by the method of the present invention, the efficiency is improved by about 30% compared with the existing input system. This figure was verified using a simulation program of our own implementation. A description of the program and algorithm can be obtained by sending a request to sainfe@empal.com. This input system not only improves the character input efficiency of mobile phones which are widely used at present, but also can be applied to various game consoles, character input devices using remote controllers, character input devices of Internet TVs, PDAs, and small devices involving character input in the future. have.
