본 발명은 큰 수의 프로그램 취사선택들을 조작할 시에 미디어 시청자들을 돕기 위해 전자 프로그램 안내들(EPGs)을 사용하는 시스템에 관한 것이다. 특히, 본 발명은 프로그램 선택을 더 용이하게 하는 텔레비전 시청자를 위한 개인 채널에 관한 것이다.

이제 도 1에 대하여, 텔레비전/모니터(230)가 개개의 텔레비전 시청자의 개인 채널을 디스플레이하는 스크린(170)을 갖는 것을 도시한다. 텔레비전/모니터(230)는 컴퓨터/VCR 유닛(240)의 제어하에 있다. 개개의 텔레비전시청자를 위해 생성된 개인 채널은 동시에 스타(*) 및 파운드(#) 키들(238,237) 모두를 각각 누른 후, 번호 2 내지 6 채널들을 선택함으로써 시청할 수 있다. 도 3에 보다 상세히 도시된 바와 같이, 현재 디스플레이를 발생시킨 개인 채널 번호 1이 이미 선택되어 있다.
도 2에 도시된 손바닥 크기의 원격 제어 원드(210)는 텔레비전/모니터(230)의 스크린(170)상에서 선택들을 하는 데에 이용된다. 현재 스크린(170)은 18:00 내지 19:30 시, 즉 군대 시간의 현재 타임 슬롯들에서 이용할 수 있는 다수의 프로그램 번호들 1 내지 10 을 도시한다. 프로그램 번호 7과 같은 어떤 특정 프로그램을 선택하는 것은 예를 들어 상위 윈도우 165에서 나타나도록 그 프로그램의 설명을 제공한다.

Claims (8)

  1. 텔레비전 시청자를 위해 개인 채널을 디스플레이하는 상호작용 인터페이스를 가진 디스플레이(170)를 포함하는 텔레비전 시스템에 있어서,
    상기 디스플레이는 개개의 텔레비전 시청자를 위해 선택 프로그램들(120)을 다룬 개인 채널을 불러내도록 원격 제어(210)를 통해 컴퓨터에 의해 제어할 수 있고, 상기 선택 프로그램들은 (ⅰ) 상기 텔레비전 시청자에 의해 제공된 명백한 정보를 통해, (ⅱ) 상기 시스템이 상기 텔레비전 시청자가 시청하는 것을 관찰하고 자동적으로 프로파일을 발전시키는 수동 정보를 통해, (ⅲ) 상기 텔레비전 시청자의 가족내 다른 사람들이 그들의 개인 채널에 어떤 프로그램들을 발전시켰는지를 관찰하는 것에 의한 협력적 필터링을 통해, 및 (ⅳ) 상기 모두의 조합을 통한 기술들 중 적어도 하나에 의해 상기 텔레비전 시스템(170)의 상기 개인 채널에 프로그램되는, 텔레비전 시스템.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 원격 제어(210)는 상기 디스플레이(170)에 대하여 스크롤하는 수단(215)을 가지는, 텔레비전 시스템.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서,

  5. 텔레비전 시청자 가족의 각 일원을 위해 개인 채널을 디스플레이하는 상호작용 인터페이스를 가진 디스플레이(170)를 포함하는 텔레비전 시스템에 있어서,
    상기 디스플레이는 원격 제어(210)를 통해 개개의 텔레비전 시청자를 위해 선택 프로그램들(120)을 다룬 개인 채널들을 불러내도록 원격 제어(210)를 통해 컴퓨터에 의해 제어할 수 있고, 상기 선택 프로그램들은 (ⅰ) 각각의 텔레비전 시청자에 의해 제공된 명백한 정보를 통해, 및 (ⅱ) 상기 시스템이 각각의 텔레비전 시청자가 시청하는 것을 관찰하고 자동적으로 프로파일을 발전시키는 수동 정보를 통한 기술들 중 적어도 하나에 의해 상기 텔레비전 시스템의 상기 개인 채널에 프로그램되는, 텔레비전 시스템.
  6. 제 5 항에 있어서,
