Abstract

PURPOSE: A reactor having rectangular strip coil wound into edge-wise helices and method for manufacturing the same is provided to achieve improved frequency characteristics of impedance, while maximizing heat radiation and reducing weight of copper wire. CONSTITUTION: A reactor to be used in a DC and AC circuit, comprises an E-shaped multi-layer iron core(10) having two outer leads(4) and one central lead(2); a rectangular strip coil(3) formed by winding a rectangular copper wire into an edge-wise helices, wherein the rectangular strip coil is inserted into the central lead of the iron core; and an upper yoke core(1). The reactor has an open magnetic path or a close magnetic path.
