종래에는 측정원이 실제 시트에 앉은 상태에서 벨트를 착용한 후 게이지를 복부 사이에 위치시킨 후 복부에 가해지는 힘을 측정 하였던 것으로, 좀더 구체적으로기술 하면 측정원이 시트 벨트를 착응하고 있는 상태에서 D 링 부위의 벨트에 소정의 표시를 하고 표시 위치로 부터 3인치와 1인치에 또다른 표시를 한 다음 복부 위치의 벨트에 핀을 끼워서 게이지의 풀(PULL)쪽을 걸고 게이지를 벨트 인출 방향으로 3인치 당겨 서서히 놓으며, 1인치 표시가 삽입 되는 시1점 에서 걸리는 힘을 측정하게 되는 것인바, 이는 측정원 마다 개인적인 행동 습관 등에 따라서 게이지의 당기는 방향이나 속도, 놓는 속도 등에 의해 측정 오차가 심하게 되고, 게이지의 위치가 수평이 되어 오차 발생이 큰 것으로 측정치에 신뢰감을 줄 수 없는 폐단이 노출 되는것이며, 또한 측정 준비 과정이 번거롭고 시간의 소모가 큰 문제점이 있는 것이다.In the past, the measurer was wearing the belt while sitting on the seat, and the gauge was placed between the abdomen, and then the force applied to the abdomen was measured.
