Abstract

PURPOSE: A kimchi refrigerator is provided to minimize noise and power consumption by reducing the driving rate of a compressor remarkably. CONSTITUTION: A kimchi refrigerator is comprised of: a cabinet having at least one couple of storerooms(3); plural evaporators(6) for cooling each storeroom; a compressor(7) for supplying refrigerant to the evaporators; temperature sensors(10) for detecting temperatures of the two storerooms; and valves arranged on refrigerant tubes toward the evaporators. To control the kimchi refrigerator, the temperature sensors measure the temperatures of each storeroom. One of the valves is opened/closed at predetermined valve opening/closing temperatures while the other valve is opened at a specific temperature lower than the valve opening temperature. The compressor is driven when at least one of the valves is opened. Therefore, the compressor is driven to the minimum to minimize noise and excess power consumption.
