PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting menu for a digital broadcasting receiver and a method thereof are provided to enable user to easily select desired menu. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for selecting menu for a digital broadcasting receiver includes a remote controller(10), a display(40), a remote controller receiver(20) and a controller(30). The display(40) displays icons of the shape and arrangement same to the remote controller buttons on a menu screen. The remote controller receiver(20) receives key signal generated when the buttons are pressed. The controller(30) stores values according to the buttons, detects the corresponding value according to the input key signal, and to select menu items based on the detected value.
