Abstract

The present invention relates to a bearing assembly for a steering column, and more specifically, relates to a bearing assembly for a steering column, which is able to improve the rotation precision and the shaking of the steering column when steering a steering wheel. According to the present invention, the bearing assembly for a steering column comprises a bearing, an inner mold, and an outer mold. The bearing includes an inner wheel, an outer wheel, a ball, and a retainer. The shaft of the steering column is inserted into the inner mold which is formed of a synthetic resin engaged to wrap around the inner wheel. The outer mold includes: a body unit inserted into a pipe of the steering column and engaged to wrap around the outer wheel; a first support unit extended from one end of the body unit in the axial direction to support the inside of the pipe; and a second support unit extended from the other end of the body unit in the axial direction to support the inside of the pipe. According to the present invention, since the outer mold, where the bearing assembly can be transformed in the axial direction, is provided, it is easy to meet the concentricity of an upper shaft and a lower shaft. In addition, according to the present invention, the bearing assembly for a steering column is able to reduce the sagging and the shaking of the shaft by supporting the pipe from both ends in the axial direction of the outer mold, thereby improving the rotation precision when steering the steering wheel.
