Description

세그먼트 동기 신호 패턴을 이용한 ATSC TV 신호 검출 방법 {Method for detecting TV signal of ATSC using pattern of synchronization segment}[0001] ATSC TV signal detection method using a segment sync signal pattern [0002]

The present invention relates to an ATSC TV signal detection method, and more particularly, to a method of detecting an ATSC TV signal using a segment sync signal pattern.

In the United States, the 8VSB transmission system for terrestrial digital broadcasting has been adopted as the standard in 1995 and has been conducting trial broadcasting since the second half of 1998. In Korea, the terrestrial digital broadcasting standard based on the US system is also adopted and broadcasting is being carried out.

In the case of digital broadcasting, generally high-quality broadcasting is possible, and the transmission efficiency of radio waves is higher than that of analog broadcasting, so that more information can be transmitted and received. Recently, ATSC M / H (Mobile / Handheld) broadcasting standard has appeared in the case of digital broadcasting using various mobile devices such as a mobile phone, PDA, PMP, MP3 and the like.

일반적으로 미국의 ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committe)에 의해 채택된 디지탈 텔레비젼 방송에서는 지상용 VSB(Vestigial Side Band)전송 방식을 사용한다. Generally, digital television broadcasts adopted by the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) in the United States use ground based VSB (Vestigial Side Band) transmission. In the digital television system, video data and a synchronization signal are transmitted separately. On the receiver side, the position of the synchronization signal must be accurately detected from the video data. It is very important to detect the position of the synchronization signal precisely because the synchronization signal serves to distinguish the appointed intervals of the video data. In other words, it is very important that the synchronization signal accurately detects the synchronization signal at the receiving end of the video data because the other components of the receiver are the reference of time in processing the signal. In the digital broadcasting signal, the synchronizing signal pattern is usually inserted in the video data so that the synchronizing signal can be detected at the receiver side.

In the VSB transmission scheme, which is a general VSB transmission data, a data stream or a bit stream is inserted in which a specific synchronization signal pattern is periodically inserted so that a synchronization signal can be easily detected in a digital television receiver.

In this case, one data stream is composed of consecutive data segments of 832 symbols, and is divided into a synchronous signal section composed of 4 symbols and a data section composed of 828 symbols.

The synchronous signal section is a two-level signal of '-1' or '+1', and the data section is an eight level signal.

하나는 미국과 한국에서 지상파 디지털 방송을 위해 채택하고 있는 TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) 방식의 8-VSB(Vestigial Sideband) 전송 시스템이고, 다른 하나는 유럽에서 채택한 COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 전송 시스템이다.The transmission method of terrestrial digital TV broadcasting can be roughly classified into two types. One is a Trellis Coded Modulation (TCM) 8-VSB (Vestigial Sideband) transmission system adopted in the United States and Korea for terrestrial digital broadcasting and the other is a COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission system adopted in Europe .

However, if one transmission scheme has superior performance in all aspects compared to other transmission schemes, all digital broadcasting will be done by only one method. However, since the 8-VSB transmission method and the COFDM transmission method have advantages and disadvantages for each transmission method, and digital broadcasting has various purposes and uses, appropriate transmission methods can be used according to the intended use.

If only one transmission mode is used in the same area, the receiving terminal detects the transmission mode of the corresponding transmission mode signal and the transmission mode by detecting the reception signal of all the channels adopted in the area, It is possible to smoothly demodulate the signal.

The Advanced Television System Committee (ATSC) refers to a committee or standard established to consider the next generation terrestrial television system, the Advanced Television System (ATV) system of the United States. ATSC is a four- After the selection, four proposers were asked to prepare an optimal method incorporating four methods. The Grand Alliance ATV scheme, which was drafted in response to this request, was approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in May 1996 to be the technology standard for the next generation of the digital terrestrial television system in the United States. As shown in Table 1, there are 18 formats of this ATSC format, and the broadcasting company selected the desired standard. ABC and FOX are broadcasting 720P, CBC and NBC are broadcasting 1080i. The ATSC scheme adopts the 8-VSB modulation scheme as the modulation scheme.

ATSC became a collective term for digital TV transmission in the United States in 1996 when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted the technology proposed by the US Digital Broadcasting Standards Committee (ATSC) as a digital HDTV broadcasting standard. The ATSC scheme has a higher transmission speed than the European DVB scheme or the Japanese ISDB scheme, is compatible with general computers, and can broadcast multiple channels in various signal formats. However, there is a drawback that it is difficult to implement high-definition (HD-class) broadcast reception on the move.

One of the characteristics of the ATSC TV signal is that a segment sync symbol composed of 4 symbols appears once every 832 symbols. However, in the past, a method of detecting an ATSC TV signal using a segment sync symbol has not been proposed.

In the present invention, the 8-VSB (Vestigial Sideband) signal of the ATSC can be divided into a data segment of 832 symbols on the time axis, 832 symbols constituting one segment are divided into 4 data Segment sync symbol (Data Segment SYNC) and 828 data symbols (Data + FEC). The length of one segment is 77.3 μsec.

Since the first four symbols of each data segment are sync symbols of predetermined values, if the ATSC 8-VSB signal is detected, segment sync is periodically detected. Therefore, if data segment synchronization is periodically detected for a predetermined time, it can be determined that a signal received through a predetermined channel is transmitted in the VSB scheme.

도 1은 VSB(Vestigial Sideband) 모뎀을 설명하기 위한 도면이다. 1 is a diagram for explaining a VSB (Vestigial Sideband) modem.

Let us first define the symbol transmitted from the ATSC TV signal as shown in the following equation.

Where A 0 = 1.25 and denotes a pilot signal, b k ∈ {-7, -5, ..., 5,7} is an 8-PAM symbol and δ (t) dirac-delta) function, and T = 1 / 10.76 [mu sec]. ( K , b k +1 , b k +2 , b k +3 ) = (5, -5, -), which is a segment sync pattern, 5,5).

1 (a) shows a VSB signal generation model according to Weaber's method. And (b) shows a process of demodulating the VSB signal.

그리고, x1(t)는 SRRC(square-root raised-cosine) 펄스(pulse) 쉐이핑(shaping) 필터(filter)를 통해 필터링되어 x2(t)가 된다. 그리고, x2(t)는 중간주파수 fIF에 의해 주파수 시프트되고, 이때 결과의 실수 부분이 전송된다(x3(t)).Referring to Fig. 1 (a), s (t) is frequency-shifted by -Rs / 4 = -1 / (4T) to become x1 (t). Then, x 1 (t) is filtered through a square-root raised-cosine (SRRC) pulse shaping filter to become x 2 (t). Then, x 2 (t) is frequency shifted by the intermediate frequency f IF, where the real part of the result is transmitted (x 3 (t)).

FIG. 1 (b) shows a demodulation process of the VSB signal.

Referring to Figure 1 (b), if prior to being filtered by a 6 MHz bandwidth of the bandpass filter, the center frequency is f IF of r (t) is received, the frequency is shifted by -f IF y 1 (t) . y 1 (t) is filtered by the SRRC matched filter to become y 2 (t). The signal is frequency-shifted to Rs / 4 to become y 3 (t), and the y 3 (t) signal becomes a complex baseband signal.

An algorithm for detecting an ATSC signal is expressed by the following equation.

In Equations (2) to (4), s is a positive integer, N s + s is the number of available segments, L is a period of segment synchronization in the symbol, and y k = y 3 (kT).

This algorithm is due to the fact that the same segment synchronization (segment SYNC) is repeated for each segment. However, in the algorithms of Equations (2) to (4), the pattern of segment synchronization is overlooked.
