Disclosed is a broadcast service control apparatus and method. According to embodiments of the present invention, by scheduling a broadcast service having the same transmission characteristics into a broadcast group and controlling scheduling information on the broadcast service included in the broadcast group, the broadcast service can be dynamically scheduled.

Description

Apparatus and Method for Controlling Broadcast Services

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for controlling a broadcast service, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for controlling a broadcast service in a single frequency network.

The present invention is derived from a study conducted as part of the IT growth engine technology development project of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy [Task Management Number: 2006-S-003-04, Task name: Development of next generation mobile communication service platform].

In order to provide a broadcast service using a single frequency network transmission in a mobile communication system, all base stations belonging to a corresponding service area should transmit the same data to a wireless section at the same time. As such, each base station must use the same scheduling algorithm for synchronized transmission.

However, in the conventional broadcast service control apparatus, in order to change the order of scheduling for a broadcast service or to change a scheduling period for a broadcast service, it is necessary to change the priority or change the scheduling period through the MCE. Therefore, it does not reflect a temporary change in broadcast traffic or a dynamic change in scheduling priority. In addition, if the MBMS Service Allocation Pattern (MSAP) period is increased in order to increase the effect of service multiplexing, the channel zapping time is increased during the change (channel switching) between broadcast services.

In this specification, a method for dynamically controlling scheduling information of a broadcast service is provided.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method of dynamically scheduling a broadcast service by grouping a broadcast service having the same transmission characteristics into a broadcast group and controlling scheduling information on the broadcast service included in the broadcast group.
