A method for providing a VOD contents search service without a channel information file in a VOD service network and a system thereof are provided to build a search DB which does not include EPG storing information with regard to contents which are not included in an EPG file inside a search server, thereby providing search result to a settop box even though a search word with regard to the contents not included in the EPG file is inputted. A search word inputted to a settop box(100) is transmitted to a search server through an internet network. Search result is extracted from an EPG search DB(501) when contents corresponding to the search word exist in an EPG search DB, and search result is extracted from search DB not including EPG when the contents corresponding to the search word does not exist in the EPG search DB. The extracted search result is transmitted to the settop box through an internet network.

TECHNICAL AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING SEARCHING SERVICE OF VOD CONTENTS NOT INCLUDED IN ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE FILE IN VOD SERVICE NETWORK}
