Abstract

A tea maker and a method for operating thereof are provided to enhance flavor of tea especially for the first cup of tea, by letting hot water out if an extraction button is operated to sufficiently steep the tea in the hot water. A method for operating a tea maker comprises the steps of: discriminating operating state of an extraction button, and sensing replacement state of a cup if operation of the extraction button is sensed(S51,S52); if the cup is replaced, initiating an elapsed time and starting a first cup mode, and if the cup is not replaced, discriminating if the elapsed time exceeds a first set time and starting the first cup mode(S54,S55,S56); maintaining the first cup mode during a second set time, and normally operating a water valve(S57,S58); and counting an elapsed time after the water valve is operated(S59).
