상기의 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 발명에 따른 인터넷 셋톱박스를 이용한 풀스크린 주문형 비디오 구현 방법은, 주문형 비디오로 제공되는 각각의 영화에 대하여, 한 편의 영화마다 복수의 채널을 각기 할당하고, 한 편의 영화를 일정 시간차를 두고 연속적으로 스트리밍하여 제공하는 제 1 단계, 사용자로부터 특정 영화에 대한 시청 요청을 수신하는 제 2 단계, 상기 사용자가 영화 시청을 요청한 시점이 해당 영화의 상영시간이 아닌 경우, 해당 영화를 요청한 사용자를 대기자로 등록하는 제 3 단계, 대기자로 등록된 사용자에게 등록 확인 및 해당 영화의 상영시간을 통보하고, 해당 영화의 상영시간이 될 때까지 광고를 송출하는 제 4 단계, 해당 영화의 상영시간이 되면 상영가능 시그널(SIGNAL)을 전송하여 상기 사용자에게 해당 영화의 상영 시작을 알리는 제 5 단계, 해당 영화의 스트리밍 데이터를 셋톱박스에서 수신하여 출력하면서, 상기 스트리밍 데이터 중 일정 분량의 데이터를 상기 셋톱박스의 저장장치에 계속해서 저장하는 제 6 단계, 상기 사용자로부터 백워드 요청이 입력되면, 상기 셋톱박스의 저장장치에 저장되어 있는, 해당 영화의 현재 재생 시점 이전 분량의 데이터를 다시 재생하는 제 7 단계, 그리고 상기 사용자가 백워드하여 영화를 시청하는 동안, 상기 셋톱박스가 백그라운드(background) 작업으로 해당 영화의 스트리밍 데이터를 계속해서 저장하는 제 8 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
이하에서는, 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 장점, 특징 및 바람직한 실시예에 대하여 상세히 설명하도록 한다.
도 1은 본 발명에 따른 인터넷 셋톱박스를 이용한 풀스크린 주문형 비디오를 구현하기 위한 시스템의 구성을 도시한 도이다.
먼저, 도 1에 도시된 각 처리단계를 통해 본 발명의 기본적인 구성을 설명하면 이하와 같다.
사용자가 보고자 하는 영화를 요청하면(제 1 단계), 영화를 요청한 사용자를 대기자로 등록한다(제 2 단계). 등록된 사용자에게 등록 확인 및 영화 상영시간을 통보하고 상영시간까지 광고를 송출한다(제 3 단계).
