Abstract

PURPOSE: A device for inspecting surface defects of a tube is provided to remove a great quantity of defects caused by inserting parts of surface defects of a loose tube in connecting the loose tubes and to prevent factors reducing the mechanical properties of optical fibers caused by the penetration of moisture by removing foreign materials and moisture stuck to the loose tube. CONSTITUTION: A device for inspecting surface defects of a tube is composed of a dice having a through-hole straightly penetrated with an input port(30) and an output port(40); air injecting nozzles(61,62) installed to the output port to remove foreign materials attached on the surface of a loose tube(100); and a sensor(50) mounted to the through-hole to detect the existence of the loose tube and open and close the air injecting nozzle. The diameter of the output port is smaller than the diameter of the input port and tapered and the size is in a limit permissible diameter of the loose tube. The diameter of the input port is 130¯200% of a reference diameter of the loose tube and the diameter of the output port is 105¯125% of the reference diameter.
