Abstract

PURPOSE: A digital set-top box is provided to realize an image contents service through a telephone line of a VDSL(Very high-data rate Digital Subscriber Line) based on a television while linking with the Internet at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter)s(112) receive analog audio/video signals(111) for converting the same into digital signals. An audio/video switch unit(117) outputs the digital audio/video signals of the selected channel through a storing signal output port, and outputs the digital audio/video signals of channels and MPEG decoded audio/video signals through an audio/video output port. An MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) encoder(121) encodes the audio/video signals output through the storing signal output port. A storage unit(124) stores the encoded audio/video signals, and MPEG contents. A sub-control unit(123) stores the MPEG contents in the storage unit, and outputs the data stored in the storage unit. A main control unit(132) provides a control command for storing and outputting the data to the sub-control unit, and controls operations corresponding to a remote signal received from a remote control. An MPEG decoder(122) decodes the data output from the sub-control unit for transmitting the decoded data to the audio/video switch unit. Audio and video output units(119,115) output audio and video of the channels. A card reader(109) reads data of a smart card.
