Abstract

PURPOSE: A cable modem communication system using a public TV receiving network is provided to realize a stable data communication service by using a frequency band not used for a public TV receiving network and a cable modem, having a good noise characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A cable modem(20) converts a signal applied from a personal terminal into a first frequency band signal which is not used for a public TV receiving network, and transmits the converted signal to the public TV receiving network. A converter(16) is placed at a connection point of a transmission network connected with a CMTS(Cable Modem Termination System)(12) and the public TV receiving network connected with the cable modem. The converter converts the first frequency band signal applied from the cable modem into an upward frequency band signal defined in the CMTS. The converter converts a downward signal inputted from the CMTS into a frequency band signal which is not used for the public TV receiving network.
