Abstract

PURPOSE: A load balancer, and a system and a method for clustering a VPN(Virtual Private Network) gateway using the same are provided to smoothly expand the performance of the VPN gateway by embodying the VPN gateway using the load balancer by an active-active scheme which does not support a synchronization function. CONSTITUTION: An upper load balancer(32) extracts a destination address of a packet with reference to a header of the packet transmitted through an open network(30) or a VPN(31), and assigns a transmission path of the packet with reference to the destination address extracted from the packet. A VPN gateway cluster(34) connects between the upper load balancer(32) and the VPN(31), has a plurality of VPN gateways(38-1 to 38-n), and transmits the packet through one VPN gateway among a plurality of VPN gateways(38-1 to 38-n). A lower load balancer(36) connects between a plurality of VPN gateways(38-1 to 38-n) and the VPN(31), and transmits the packet to the VPN(31) with reference to the destination address of the packet transmitted through the VPN gateway. The lower load balancer(36) assigns the transmission path of the packet with reference to the destination address of the packet transmitted from the VPN(31), and transmits the packet to the VPN gateway cluster(34).
