Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for controlling a power of an OTD(Orthogonal Transmit Diversity) mode in an IS(Interim Standard)-2000 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) mobile communication system is provided to prevent the waste of an initial transmission power of a forward channel and the initial call disconnection of a reverse channel by reducing a transmission power of a base station or increasing a transmission power of an MS(Mobile Station) when using the OTD mode. CONSTITUTION: An MS measures a reception power(S1). The MS is converted from a non-OTD mode to an OTD mode for judging whether a service is during performance(S2). If the service is during performance, the MS adds the measured reception power, a power offset, and an OTD gain and determines a transmission power of a reverse pilot(S3). The MS adds the determined transmission power of the reverse pilot and a channel gain and determines a transmission power of a reverse channel(S4).
