CONSTITUTION: A play speed controlling method for a disc player includes the steps of initiating a variable oscillation element to an initial frequency by a microcomputer, holding the data output from a memory by requesting the play speed control via a play speed control element in a microcomputer, inputting a voltage corresponding to the play speed control input to the variable oscillation element, and outputting the data stored in the memory in synchronization with a clock generated by the variable oscillation element under the control of the microcomputer, thereby sequentially storing data output from a data output element after holding the data output from the memory by a user's input of the play speed control element. The data holding is released when the data is input to an assigned address in the memory. The data reading speed is changed according to a sensed data amount of the memory on the basis of the data processing speed.
