Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a method of reading data packets recorded on an optical disc surface such as a CD-ROM drive, and more particularly to a variable packet structure reading method for improving performance of a drive.
There are generally two methods of reading data packets recorded on the optical disk surface: method 1 addressing method and method 2 addressing method. The method 1 addressing method reads a variable packet and reads a file in response to a plurality of read command requests. The method 2 addressing method reads a fixed packet and reads a file in response to one read command request. Referring to the drawings, first, FIG. 1 shows a variable packet structure diagram for explaining a process of reading a conventional variable packet, and FIG. 2 shows a fixed packet structure diagram for explaining a process of reading a conventional fixed packet. It is. In FIG. 1,
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a method of reading data without degrading drive performance in reading data recorded on an optical disk having a variable packet structure.
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a variable packet structure read method having a user data block between a link block and a run-in block and a run-out block.
Pointer information indicating the user data block of the next variable packet to be read sequentially in an arbitrary block of the user data block is recorded, and data information recorded in the user data block of the next variable packet is successively recorded according to the recorded pointer information. It is characterized by a lead box.
1 is a diagram illustrating a structure of a variable packet for explaining a process of reading a conventional variable packet.
2 is a fixed packet structure diagram for explaining a process of reading a conventional fixed packet.
3 is a diagram illustrating a variable packet structure according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
3 illustrates a variable packet structure diagram according to an embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 3,
Therefore, when data is read from the optical disk having the variable packet structure as described above, successive files can be read in response to one host request by using pointer information recorded in the last block of the user data block.
As described above, the present invention can read in response to a single host request in reading one file data from a variable packet structure, so that an optical disk player such as a CD-ROM drive, a CD-Recordable, or a CD-ReWritable can be read. This has the advantage of preventing performance degradation.
