The present invention is an image transmission system for easily transmitting an infrared remote control signal between different residential areas using an image and a control signal, in particular, the existing telephone wiring is to transmit two types of signals on the operation telephone line at the same time. It is possible to perform the transmission without interference by telephone communication, in spite of the inherent signal attenuation in the transmission by the radio wave medium, transmission without the special processing of the video signal beyond the RF conversion. In the present invention, two or more image sources may be connected to the system and are preferably selected, and remote control signals generated in one room may be used without a site clear line between the remote control device and the receiver. .

Background of invention]
The present invention relates to a system for signal transmission between components of an imaging system via a telephone line indoors.
Until the late 1970s, owning electronic devices that generated or provided video signals was very unfamiliar to the average consumer. Virtually all video programs aired on television were accepted over the air. This situation has changed over the past decade with the popularization of VCRs, video cameras, cable converters and home satellite systems.
Many consumers now own one or more televisions and can watch video programs elsewhere. However, the viewing of the program at the above-mentioned source, not the program by radio wave, required the transmission of the signal from the video source to the television. When the source and receiver are in the same room, the easiest way is to connect them using coaxial cables. In this way, the VCR and cable converter are always connected close to the television.
When the source and receiver are not in the same place, it is best to connect the coaxial cable extension network between the houses. However, most residential areas are not connected in this way, or the canal has a network that rarely accesses the place. Most consumers also claim that installing a network is very difficult and unwieldy, even if they are cleverly connected or completely hidden from view. This is a problem when radiation is connected between a video source and a television, especially when wires are needed between rooms that are far apart from each other or on different floors.
Today it is common for VCRs and televisions to have a second television in the bedroom in Gerselle. This strongly required the technology to transmit the image signal to the entire residence without installing new wires. A feasible solution is to broadcast a signal of self-power or use a telephone line or power line which is always available as a conducting passage.
Radio-based broadcasting is currently not available in the United States under the Federal Communication Commission (FFC) regulations and in most other countries for similar reasons (but many devices that broadcast video at low power, despite apparent violations of the FCC regulations, may not This proves that there is a big requirement for the transmission of video signals over short distances). In addition to legal obstacles, the unintentional reception of broadcast signals outside the residential area and the possibility of interference from other broadcast media at the same frequency are also problematic.
Regulations on the transmission between the source and the receiver via conduction paths are less restrictive and the signals transmitted by these methods are less likely to be interrupted or interrupted by other signals. However, devices typically attached to these circuits often generate electrical noise at many different radio frequencies and are likely to be interfered with. In addition, reliable conduction paths are not always useful when passing through a fuse box, and address problems when the source and receiver drive power from other circuits.
The problem with the transmission of images by conductors of broadcast or power lines has left the conduction method over telephone lines with the only remaining selectivity. However, this technology also faces serious technical and legal challenges and no solution has been found.
The most obvious difficulties are to avoid telephone call interference and to comply with all regulations governing devices connected to public telephone network. Because telephone lines in the United States and many countries actually contain four conductors, only two of the conductors used to make calls within the residence are served by a single telephone number, and the availability of unused conductor pairs addresses this issue. It seems to represent an interesting opportunity to avoid. Unfortunately, when the telephone line is connected, unused pairs are not connected to the connections of the circuit as they are, leaving the disconnection in the conduction path provided by these telephone lines.
On the other hand, it is clear that the passage provided by the working pair is continuous between these two jacks as long as the telephone device is operated when connected to the two jacks. One exception is dwellings where each jack is directly connected to a central electronic switch unit that provides an interface to a notarized telephone system. The conduction path between the jacks is like shorted across this unit. In addition to the problems caused by the connection of public or private telephone networks, there are other technical and legal issues related to the transmission by this connection. The technical problem stems from the fact that video transmission was not taken into account when the characteristics of the wires, the installation and connection technology, and the standardization of electronic telephones were achieved. All these elements are highly characteristic. It is unsuitable for video transmission because it affects the wire's ability to reliably deliver RF signals.
Another legal problem stems from the fact that all RF signals flowing through unshielded wires are at least slightly radiated. (Unlike coaxial cables, telephone lines are not shielded by metal-grounded conductors that remove radiation.) The ban on RF radiation is very limited in the United States and other countries, so successful transmission can be achieved by other means. Certain special electromagnetic techniques could potentially be invalidated.
A system for transmitting a video signal over a general telephone line has been developed but has not been realized for use in the above-mentioned residential area. Chou (U.S. Patent No. 4,054,910) discloses a system for delivering an image through a common wire pair without boosting the image signal in the frequency band. However, the video signal transmitted by the device by the design contains energy that can disturb the telephone signal at low frequencies.
Tatsuzawa (US Pat. No. 3,974,337) discloses a system for boosting video signals slightly in the frequency band (approximately 0.5 MHz) to prevent collisions of voice signal band communications, but the system also rapidly increases in high frequency bands. Complex procedures are needed to compress the signal bandwidth to avoid the use of decaying energy. In addition, the upper end of the final band is preliminarily sounded or is amplified lower than the low frequency band, causing residual attenuation differences.
The purpose of the technique disclosed by Tatsuzawa is to allow a video signal to travel a distance of 1 km or more. However, electronics that reduce and extend the signal band are very expensive. In addition, accentuating the beeper has a great difficulty in adjusting the distance between the source and the receiver. This is very inconvenient for the consumer. The system also depends on the electrical characteristics of the frequency between 0 and 4 MHz and limits the frequency propagation in that band. This is a legal issue, for example, because US regulations strongly regulate the supply of RF energy below 6 MHz to the wires connected to the public telephone network. Finally, the restriction on single band only allows the transmission of a single signal.
For example, Lemelson (US Pat. No. 4,485,400) is a method of reducing the resolution or refresh rate of a video signal to reduce the bandwidth to a sufficient bandwidth to avoid the problem of attenuation. However, in the United States and elsewhere, current video standards use a refresh rate that is sufficient to avoid only annoying shakes on the screen. Since most buyers cannot tolerate screen shake or deterioration of picture quality, these technologies will not be available in the near future. There is no solution to the problem. It is known that two commercially available devices transmit images without telephone over a telephone line. The first device is marketed by several cable suppliers. For example, the J 411 system is traded by California's Javelin Electronics of Torrance. The device costs nearly $ 1,000.
The device delivers a single unmodulated video signal over a telephone line. Most of the energy of this signal is concentrated at frequencies below 3 kHz, so the sheath interferes during telephone calls. The specification also states that the transmission must be through a dedicated cable pair (telephone lines are part of the dedicated cable pair), no-load, and not connected to any other device. The device also delivers more amplification at high frequencies, pre-sounding the signal, adding cost and requiring unnecessary adjustments for the user.
The second device, Tele Magic, was introduced to the market by Impact 2000, a catalog for consumer electronic goods. The device consists of a pair of similar cables. It was advertised that it could be connected to a television receiver in the second region and watch a signal from a source in the second region.
Each cable is a video device. Consists of a standard matching transformer connected to a telephone cord with an interference rejection capacitor and a standard plug-in RJ-11 male plug for telephone jack connection.
The device is designed to simply feed a video signal from a source to a telephone line and sacrifice the signal at a remote location. For many reasons, this approach does not solve the problem in the near future.
Initially, the telemagic system did not provide an image amplifier, so the strength of the signal supplied to the wire is limited by the strength of the signal supplied from the source. This is a problem because the output signal level of the VCR sold in the United States is regulated by law at 10 Hz for 1 Hz to 75 Hz. At this level, the video signal carries only a few feet before the wire's energy attenuates below the level required for good television reception.
In addition to the limitations due to low signal power, half of the device is the optimum condition for a telemagic matching transformer consisting of electronic devices, and nothing has been explained about the exact purpose of the component. As a clear attempt to reduce costs, a single 75Ω / 300Ω matching transformer was installed to connect between 75Ω coaxial cables and parallel two-wire wires were adopted. Since a matching transformer of the same design is practically included in all imaging devices sold in the United States, it can be purchased at a very low price.
Matching transformers are used to match the impedance of imaging equipment and telephone lines. However, the actual telephone line impedance is 100 kHz on the low VHF channel and not 300 kHz. This fact causes impedance mismatch, and the video signal will lose more energy than necessary when passing through the network from the source through this cable.
The transformer is also used to maintain the voltage on two lines of the telephone line, reducing the radiation of electromagnetic waves. However, the transformer used in telemagic is designed to handle all image frequencies, so it rarely balances the image signal like a transformer specifically designed for a particular frequency. Lack of balance produces more radiation than radiation by an optimally balanced signal. .
Another problem is that two capacitors, rather than one capacitor in telemagic, are required for complete separation of the telephone signal using the specific transformer supplied with the device. The drawback of this design is that when the device is connected to a coaxial terminal whose outer ground is connected to the ground, the entire telephone bursts.
Given the ability to transmit video signals throughout the home, the ability to adjust the signal supply of a television viewer in remote areas is limited. Many video sources are specifically designed to use handheld controls, such as VSIs and cable converters, that can send user commands as infrared control signals. Unfortunately, the signal from this device does not travel between rooms unless there is a visible path between the transmitter and the source. This has resulted in an important demand for the transmission of control signals as a result of the successful transmission of video signals over telephone lines. There are also obvious economics to the success of transmission using the same wires used for associative transmission.
Robinson (Non-US Patent No. 4,509, 211) discloses the only known method of transmitting control signals via transmission lines that are also used for the transmission of video signals from infrared transmitters. The method converts an infrared signal received in an area of a television into an electrical impulse, and the impulse is concentrated at a frequency of 1 MHz or less lower than the actual image frequency by the characteristics of the actual infrared control signal. The impulse is transmitted through the transmission line to the area of the programmable image source, where it is converted into infrared energy and reduced to the original light pattern.
However, Hovinson's technique is not suitable for situations where the energy of another signal that splits the transmission line is concentrated at a frequency that reaches the control signal within the range of the frequency limiting energy. This is the case when a working telephone line is used as a transmission line. According to Robinson's method, the signal from the infrared regulator has information content at frequencies between 0 and 3 kHz, like a telephony signal, so they will collide. Any receiver tuned between 0 and about 3 Hz frequencies, such as a telephone set, will respond to both of the telephony control signals. The phone call will be noisy or the infrared signal will be obscured or both will occur (if one signal is stronger than the other, the signal is received without distortion). The system will also weaken whether a video signal is present or not.
Robinson, in combination with other technologies, has disclosed a device that includes an isolation circuit that prevents electrical signals derived from infrared light patterns arriving from image sources and television receivers. Robinson said that power lines, telephone lines or other conductor systems could be used if multiple signals do not interfere or if isolation is provided, but this is not true. When the frequencies of two signals overlap, there is no separation means to separate them completely, and only the desired signal arrives at a receiver designed to operate on the desired signal.
Indeed, the disclosed separation circuit is completely unnecessary, even at the gist of the Robinson patent application. In the system disclosed by Robinson, video and control signals pass through a single conductor path at non-overlapping frequencies, and separate circuits are installed to block control signals from the video source and the television receiver connected to the path. VSI and all other image sources have a reverse separator installed at the output terminal so that the incident electrical energy at this terminal has no effect and no extra separation is required. Also, when a television is tuned to a particular video channel, the frequency signal outside the channel is ignored unless the energy level is very high. In this way the control signal is ignored and by the television receiver tuned to VHF channel 4, the video signals of VHF channel 3 and VHF channel 5 are likewise ignored.
In addition to the fact that Robinson's inaccurate separation circuit and infrared transmission system were not suitable for this application, Robinson presented nothing about image transfer over telephone lines.
An electronic transmitter / receiver pair called Rabbit discloses the electrotechnical principle of sending images and infrared signals between VSI and television. The device, citing Robinson's patents in batches, has been available in retail since 1985. The device uses a transmission line consisting of a single, very thin pair of insulated wires that the user must install between the Vsial and the television. It thus represents in detail the difficulties which the present invention intends to pose.
Another system is known for transmitting infrared signals away from televisions, but using broadcast technology instead of the transmission line, called Remote Extender, called Deuiak Springs, Florida. The device, marketed by Windmaster Manufacturing of Defuniak Springs, converts infrared signals into electrical impulses, boosts them to UHF frequencies, and then broadcasts UHF frequencies to broadcast antennas. A remote receiver picks up (captures) the UHF signal, drops it to its original frequency, reproduces it in its original infrared pattern, and uses impulses.
Because the system uses broadcast technology, it is susceptible to interference and the receiver is likely to misdetect control signals from transmitters of nearby second-order transmit / receive pairs. It is also clear that it is economical to use a telephone line for the transmission of control signals when combined with the technology of transmitting images using intermediate media.
Simultaneous transmission of infrared control signals and single video signals over telephone lines is a focus of the technology disclosed herein. However, it is easy to see the extended utility of this technology, which can carry more than one image source at any given time. Telephone line media has no barrier to the use of multiple sources when each source transmits one signal in each frequency band. However, the number of available bands is limited by a number of factors. Of course, an important limitation is imposed by the difficulty of using a telephone line as a medium. This limit is limited when the required source exceeds the number of available channels.
However, if the viewer can use only one of the multiple sources using the same band, the picture from the remaining source will be shown without interference. This possibility allows the user to operate easily, quickly and away from only one of the multiple sources connected for transmission. The need for technology has arisen.
Summary of invention]
As described above, an object of the present invention is to overcome the difficulties in the transmission of the video signal and the control signal in the infrared ray passing through the operating network of the telephone line.
For this and other purposes, this object includes a pair of transceivers. The first transceiver is designed to be connected between the video source and another contact terminal on a telephone jack or telephone line network, and the common transceiver is designed for the connection between a general television receiver and the telephone jack. This transceiver has the advantage of using a simple two-wire conduction path provided by the wires of a typical residential telephone system, thus providing the following results in stark contrast to the known techniques described above.
1) Each television connected via a transceiver enables the display of signals of any video source through the aforementioned common transceiver as well as another signal connected by other means.
2) Unlimited televisions can be connected and operated at the same time. Each television may select any of the connected sources for display at any time as long as the source is active, ie as long as the signal flows through the telephone network wires.
3) The number of sources that can be activated immediately depends on many distinct factors but is always more than one. The signal from each operating source occupies a separate non-overlapping frequency band as it flows through the wire.
4) Any source can split a single frequency band and only one of them can operate at any given time. Transceivers connected to video sources include one of two technologies that allow viewers to easily turn any television away into an active source using a particular frequency band.
5) As described above, an image source responsive to a control signal connected through an transceiver from an infrared transmitter can be controlled at any place where the connected television is located, whether or not the region is at a viewing distance of the image source.
6) The operation of telephones and other low frequency communications, including those operated by intercoms, fax machines and modems, is not affected by the operation and connection of any of the devices described herein.
7) All of the above capabilities are provided by a simple transceiver connection. No other effort from the user is required. In addition to these and other objectives and results, designs for special televisions that connect directly to the telephone network have been disclosed. The television is designed to cooperate with the video signal transceiver described above. Televisions contain electronics for guiding and tuning video signals from the wires and conveying information from infrared control signals back to the transceiver for controlling the connected video signals detected by the wires. Like a transceiver, it does not interfere with telephony.
The combination of published transceivers and televisions has provided another design for inexpensive devices that provide the above capabilities to dwellings equipped with special telephone systems including central electronic switching units.

Here, the signal described as a video signal refers to a signal that provides dictionary information encoded according to NTSC, PAL, SECAM or other formats used for public broadcasting around the world. This format provides 50 to 60 image compositions per second, with a vertical resolution of 525 to 625 lines in each composition.
In general, published devices are designed to transmit audio signals, such as video signals, in accordance with this format. However, most known technologies work the same with or without a voice signal. For this reason, a video signal represents a signal with or without audio information. A clear description will be used when the audio signal is specifically included or excluded.
Transmission of video signal through telephone line]
The following problems must be overcome for the transmission of video signals through the telephone line network.
1) The multipath effect, known as reflection or hypothesis, causes distortion of the video signal. This effect occurs within the wire network that can reach the receiver from the source via a separate path with many signals. When the signal energy reaches the receiver through two different paths, the signal passing through one side is canceled out instantaneously with respect to the signal passing through the other side. This causes the same image to appear in two separate locations at the scanning frequency of the picture tube. This causes a special distortion form called virtual if the offset difference is large enough. Multipath virtualization of broadcast signals is caused by large buildings that reflect energy near the antenna and provide multipaths with very different lengths.
2) The reflection of signal energy through the transmission path can reduce the signal-to-noise ratio necessary to obtain a high-definition picture of the current television receiver. A signal-to-noise ratio of 40 decibels is sufficient for high quality video signals. This results in a degradation in image quality whenever the signal energy of the receiver falls within 40 decibels of the line noise level or the minimum noise level of the television receiver.
The attenuation of the signal energy depends on three main factors as it reaches the receiver at the source and lowers the energy at the end of the transmission path.
The above factors are:
일례로 90㎒에서 실제의 전화선은 100피트당 14데시벨의 에너지를 감쇠시키고 175㎒에서는 감쇠가 100피트당 약 25데시벨이다.a) Attenuation and dissipation of signal energy by wires. Unlike coaxial cables with less attenuation of video signals, telephone lines dramatically attenuate high frequency energy. This attenuation increases linearly with the length of the passage and also with frequency. At 90 MHz, for example, a real telephone line attenuates 14 decibels of energy per 100 feet, and at 175 MHz, the attenuation is about 25 decibels per 100 feet.
고주파에서는 3.5데시벨 제한에 매우 빨리 도달된다.b) Network connections between wire breaks, which occur in one of the main passages of energy transfer from the source to the receiver, causing significant attenuation. If the other passage is very long, the energy difference reduces the level of the main transmission passage to about 3.5 decibels. As other passages shorten, the attenuation depends on whether the branch line is open or terminated. If the branch line is not terminated, the amount of attenuation will be less than this and negligible on very short branch lines. At high frequencies, the 3.5 decibel limit is reached very quickly.
고주파에서는 3.5데시벨 제한이 길이가 짧은 통로에서 생긴다.c) Telephone devices, which consume high frequency energy, and devices of many numbers exhibit this property. When such devices become short branch lines, the energy of the main transmission line is drained. Devices with a strong dissipation effect reduce energy above the usual 3.5 decibel gap loss. As the length of this branch line increases, branch line attenuation prevents leakage and the usual 3.5 decibel gap loss is the dominant factor. At high frequencies, the 3.5 decibel limit occurs in short passages.
3) The fact that the attenuation increases with frequency causes the energy near the high end of the 6 MHz video signal to cause more attenuation than the energy at the low end. This fact causes an inclination in the image power spectrum, which is a form of signal distortion that, when fully present, causes degradation of gray matter.
4) Interference of strong broadcast signals captured by wires acting as antennas causes severe distortion. The broadcast energy receiving capability of the wire increases with frequency.
5) Unlike coaxial cables, telephone lines are not shielded by metal ground conductors, so they can radiate important electromagnetic waves when electrical energy flows in a radio frequency band. This causes legal problems as well as interference from nearby televisions or other receivers that tune into the radio frequency band. The radiation level produced by a given signal level increases with frequency (in contrast to the regulations on radiation, it is not legal in the United States to connect radio frequency equipment to public telephone networks unless they transmit energy below 6 MHz). The problem does not arise: the network does not require regulation because the wire is immediately reduced in energy to a level below a certain purpose).
A possible solution to this problem is to remodulate the video signal into other wavelengths with equivalent information before transferring the energy of the video signal to the wire. In one example, if the bandwidth of the signal can be compressed without loss of information, problems of tilt, interference and possibly radiation will be reduced. However, the implementation of compression or other remodulation techniques is very expensive and will not reduce all these problems as important as possible.
Since existing techniques for video coding and modulation provide a signal with abundant information, the bandwidth of the video signal can be reduced using sensitive filters without significant loss of information. However, the potential reduction is not so large that such means have little significance in mitigating the above problem.
The second method of changing the waveform is to amplify the high frequency of the signal rather than the frequency of the low end, which is called pre-emphasis and can compensate for the slope of the signal. However, the fact that only one of the potential problems is mentioned, the pre-emphasis device is expensive. In addition, the installation of a new residence is inconvenient to adjust the compensation level. This damping vibration is proportional to the total amount of damping that in turn changes from one settlement to another.
In addition to frustrating the object of the invention of re-installing the wires in the dwelling, the only other control element that helps to succeed in transmission lies in an electronic device that can limit the effect of the telephone device connected to the choice of energy level and frequency. have. However, those skilled in the art expect that amplified video signals flowing through the telephone network will be virtually damaged at most frequency and energy levels. It is also doubtful that a signal that is highly amplified to pass through the wire will produce completely unacceptable radiation levels.
Investigating the propagation over this network, a series of experiments were conceived and carried out, including observation of the quality of the picture from the transmitted signal and also measurement of radiated values generated by the transmitted signal.
As part of the experiment, the transmitter / receiver pairs were designed to feed the amplified video signal through one terminal of the network and reproduce it from the second terminal using the technique disclosed herein. It was used for experiments in 20 houses using the signal. In most experiments, the telephone device was left in the network without being connected to the associated terminal. Several experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of the same device with the same terminal.
Radiation experiments measured the conduction of an image signal on an unblocked 50-foot wire laid horizontally 1 foot high above the ground and the field strength via a calibration antenna located 3 meters from the midpoint of the wire. The signal was determined to minimize radiation before feeding the wires. This state includes a process called balancing and has been used in public transceivers and will be described later.
The most natural choice for transmission frequency is the low VHF channel. In the United States, the low VHF band ranges from VHF channels 2 to 6 and ranges from 54 MHz to 88 MHz. VHF channels 2 to 4 consist of one contiguous group of three 6 MHz wide channels that are placed at both ends between 54 MHz and 72 MHz, and VHF channels 5 and 6 are second contiguous groups located at both ends of 76 MHz to 88 MHz. It consists of.
The low VHF band consists of a low channel group that is easy to tune to a regular television, making it a good target for transmission frequencies. The benefit of tuning is that the television receiver reproduces the signal from the wires in tuning mode and eliminates the need for electronic circuitry for signal frequency modulation. The gain of using low frequencies in the VHF channel is a concomitant decrease in attenuation and radiation.
Another benefit of coherence is that there is no possibility of interference from broadcast energy contained on the front in the United States unless the channel is used for local video broadcasting. This is because the band assigned to video broadcasting in the United States is banned for other services.
Only changes in VHF channel 3 were tested since little change was expected when passing through the low VHF band. The tunable first channel above VHF channel 6 has not been tested at frequencies above this range because it is a VHF 7 channel that exhibits very large attenuation and radiation at 174 MHz and has no advantage over the gain of the low VHF channel.
To determine if another attenuation and pastor decrease offset the extra cost associated with the use of sub-tuned channels, it was decided to investigate the transmission of the frequency shader below the VHF 2 channel. The Federal Communications Commission's range of radiation was relatively unregulated below 30 MHz, so it decided to choose a channel from 24 MHz to 30 MHz.
As far as the inventors know, the only application involving the transmission of video signals with high resolution and refresh rates at frequencies below the tunable range is the extra bandwidth required for the cable TV distribution network. This necessity arises when transmitting a video signal from a remote place via a cable to the central transmission unit. These frequencies are available for reverse transmission since the distribution network does not normally use frequencies below VHF channel 2. These frequencies are not tuned to television and are not used at all in the consumer's imaging device as far as we know.
The following is a summary of the results of the transmission and radiation experiments.
1) When a signal of VHF channel 3 with an energy conduction level of 37.5 decibels per square kilometer is supplied to the wire at the source end, an undeteriorated picture is generated from the regenerated signal of about 85% of the experiment. Radiation from the signal at this energy level was measured at about 200 mW / m at 3 meters.
2) The concentrated video signal between 24 MHz and 30 MHz at the energy level of 42.5 decibels per square kilometer successfully produced 100% of the undegraded picture. The radiation level is about 200 mW / m at 3 meters (this level is the same as for VHF channel 3 because the high-conductance signal level is used).
3) Ghosting was not observed at any frequency or energy level.
4) The interference of the broadcast video signal is only distorted when it is received strong enough to produce an undeteriorated picture. Falling video sources do not interfere. Of course, this type of interference only applies to experiments in VHF channel 3 and not to 24 MHz to 30 MHz channels.
5) Signals from CB radio transceivers operating at 5 watts, operating at 26.965 MHz to 27.4 MHz, interfere with transmission through the 24 to 30 MHz video channel when the CB transmitter is within 50 feet of the telephone line. Although no interference from other sources is mentioned, the possibility of interference is obvious when the transmission source is transmitted very close or with sufficient power at the interference frequency.
6) The connection of telephone equipment at the terminals previously used by the transceiver sometimes degrades the quality screen which is not.
7) The perceived distortion cannot be investigated by tilting the signal spectrum.
8) In VHF channel 3, the radiation from the signal passing through the wire sometimes causes minor but significant interference to nearby televisions tuned to VHF channel 3 supplied by other video sources. This often occurs when both a cable converter and a V'Sial are connected to a television receiver, so that the TV tunes the signal from the cable converter on the transmitted VHF Channel 3 while supplying the signal of VHF Channel 3 where the V'Sial is transmitted to the telephone line. .
This type of interference also occurs in older televisions that do not provide unshielded inputs, and also in more modern televisions that are connected through shielded coaxial cable but allow slight leakage from other useful terminals such as parallel leads. Remember that this type of problem will not occur when using VHF channels 5 or 6 for transmission over wires because the video sources that provide signals on these channels are very rare.
Residual signal energy sufficient to generate a good picture can be explained by simply considering the amount of attenuation expected to pass through the longest path actually encountered in the residence. Assuming that the minimum noise figure of the television receiver is 5 decibels, the bandwidth is 6 MHz, and the required signal-to-noise ratio is 50 decibels, the minimum signal level required by the receiver is 75 dB / 77 dB. The actual VSI output level is about 200 Hz at the same impedance and is sufficiently above the minimum required to provide a good quality picture. At 66 MHz, the attenuation of the signal transmitted over the telephone line is about 30 decibels above 250 feet. In typical homes, except where the split of wires and connected telephone equipment causes excessive attenuation, it means that 30 decibels can be amplified to transmit a good signal through the longest path.
The lack of imagination can be explained by the fact that there is a generally monotonous relationship between signal transmission time and attenuation (a rare exception to this relationship is a short passage or disconnection where the signal is excessively attenuated by many splits). This signal can be attenuated by the presence of a bifurcation line. A signal passing through this path will attenuate more than a signal passing through a new path with a long transmission time.) Because of this monotonous relationship, The secondary signal will generally be more attenuated compared to the signal passing through the shortest path from the transmitter. The offset causing the imagination on the screen is related to the difference in the transit time. For visual identification, the offset must be at least equal to the size of the television's resolution. The difference in path length causing this size offset is lower than the minimum SNR required for a high quality screen, and has a sufficient attenuation difference so that the energy level of the reflection path can be set to at least 40 decibels below the energy level of the incident path. It ignores energy and shows its interference invisible.
The results of the experiment show that when a signal is supplied at an energy level that causes the same amount of electromagnetic radiation to be radiated to two signals, a transmission signal of less than 54 MHz can produce a higher quality image than that of a low VHF channel. Proved to have However, low frequency transmission is susceptible to broadcast sources and requires some expensive electronic devices.

As described earlier, the secondary signal that will pass between the transceivers is the control signal of the infrared transmitter operating in the area where the television is connected. Part of the disclosed transmission technology will be followed by known methods for converting light patterns generated by control signals into electrical energy and transmitting this energy in reverse through the wires, where the video signal is connected to the video source. Received by the transceiver. The transceiver uses an electrical signal translator to reproduce the original infrared light pattern and is connected to it to control the image source.
The technique disclosed herein is an extended embodiment designed to avoid interference of telephone signals. This extended technique requires an electrical translation frequency of the control signal converted to a high band before being transmitted over the wire. This band is high enough to eliminate interference from telephone or low frequency communication signals. After reproducing this signal at the end of the transmission path, the signal is converted to its original band before being used to recreate the original optical pattern.
Maintaining the fidelity of the control signal through the wire is less demanding than indicated by the transmission of the video signal. The nonuniformity or slope of the signal spectrum is not a problem because the signal band is small. Analysis of the factors that govern multipath interference means that such problems do not occur.
Since the bandwidth of the control signal of the actual infrared transmitter is much less than 1 MHz, it is not difficult to find a frequency interval that will not be disturbed by the ambiguous broadcast signal. In addition, since the information content is small, little energy is required for successful transmission. Reduced energy reduces radiation.
There must be no overlap between the video signal and the band at the frequency selected for video transmission, as well as other requirements for the selection of the frequency band and energy level for the transmission of this signal. Should meet As noted above, the United States Federal Communications Commission does not impose restrictions on signals above 6 MHz and leaves a wide bandwidth between frequency and video signals even if channels below VHF 2 are used. Control signals may also be transmitted over the frequencies used for image transmission.
In general FM radio, since it is usually an intermediate frequency, a frequency centered at 10.7 MHz was used as the preferred embodiment, which resulted in the provision of very low cost electronics available specifically tailored to this frequency.

As a result of researches on the transmission and control signal transmission system of the video signal passing through the active telephone line, a comprehensive model for the transceiver which connects the video source and the telephone line which performs the following functions has been developed.
1) Move to the channel used for transmission through the video signal frequency of the channel supplied from the source,
2) Amplification of Video Signal
3) Balance (balance) of two terminal voltages of video signal and matching telephone line impedance so that the voltage is almost the same with respect to the ground plane and the sign is reversed.
4) Transfer of newlyweds to the telephone network without reproducing the control signals supplied to the wires by the transceiver connected to the television without interfering with the low frequency communication signal,
5) 원 주파수대로 제어신호의 하향 이동,5) downward movement of the control signal at the original frequency;
6) the use of energy to recreate the original infrared pattern, and
7) Connect the same jack to the telephone jack when the telephone apparatus can split the energy quality of the video signal without deterioration.
1 shows an arrangement of electronics for the transceiver 1 designed to perform this function of FIG. The transceiver will be described in the next section. Several selectable designs will be presented in this description. The transceiver 1 is connected to the image source 2 to induce a signal. The signal passes through the RF converter 3, which converts the signal into a frequency band selected for transmission over the wire. Fortunately, almost all video source products supply signals in only one of two ways. Some devices and the like supply unmodulated video signals containing unvoiced information to one terminal and unmodulated audio signals from a second, separate terminal. The other device provides a video signal capable of including sound information in one channel of VHF channel 3 or 4 depending on the switch set by the consumer. Most VSIs make signals available in two forms.
Two selectable models of RF converters for transmission on low VHF channels have been disclosed. This option has obvious advantages over all other possible designs. One model derives the signal from the terminal supplying the low VHF signal and is hereafter referred to as the low VHF terminal. The model is first described. After the above description, a second model for inducing a signal from a terminal for supplying an unmodulated signal represented by baseband will be described.
The operating instructions for video sources that provide signals of VHF channels 3 or 4 instruct the user to select a channel that is not used for local broadcasting. Within the United States, it is clear that one of the two approaches is not always affected by broadcast. This is because the United States FCC has allocated a frequency to strictly prevent the broadcast of both video channels adjacent to local broadcasters and has secured a video broadcast band for television.
This resulted in the low VHF terminal of V'Sial providing certain low VHF signals that were not used for local broadcasting. This eliminated the need for electronics for RF converters and significantly reduced the cost of the equipment. In addition, a single model is sufficient in all regions of Korea.
A drawback to this choice is the problem of interference caused by radiation of the signal transmitted from the wires leaking the signal derived from the separate sources of VHF channels 3 or 4 to the television as described above. The use of specially connected cables and variable amplifiers will be disclosed later in this transceiver's description to minimize radiation and mitigate this problem.
The second model, which is selectable for transmission in the low VHF channel, requires a signal derived from the baseband terminal in an unmodulated form. This selection has two important advantages. One is that V'sial's low VHF terminal is usually connected to a television set, while V's's baseband terminal is almost open and unused, making the connection of the transceiver very easy.
Another advantage is gained from a switch that regulates the output of the low VHF terminal of Vsial, commonly known as a Tv / VCR switch. The TV / VCR switch selectively allows the VSI signal generated from the video tape or the signal tuned by the VSI tuner to be sent to VHF channels 3 or 4, and allows the signal to pass through the low VHF terminal at its original frequency. To be entered. The VSI signal is always present at the base terminal. This allows the local television to tune to either an input signal or a signal by the VSI that can be transmitted to a remote television via the wire while the VSI signal is present separately in the baseband. TV / VCR switches also generally respond to one of the controls of the incident infrared remote control transmitter.
The RF converter 3 is clearly needed if a low VHF frequency is selected for transmission and a baseband terminal is selected as the signal source. The converter inputs a video signal and uses the signal to modulate the low VHF carrier signal to produce an equivalent video signal of low VHF frequency (if the audio signal is available, of course this signal is usually accompanied by the video according to NTSC or equivalent form). It makes sense to use a modulator that combines and then modulate the carrier using the combined signal).
In order to benefit from providing a single model that meets the needs of the entire United States, one of the two adjacent low VHF channels must be set to use a user control switch (in theory, the switch also selects an unused channel). It can be adjusted automatically using circuitry to detect the presence of broadcasting energy.
There are several advantages to designing a modulator to operate on one of the VHF channels or 6 instead of the other two useful adjacent low VHF pairs: VHF 3/4 and VHF 2/3. First, there will be no particular radiant energy problem occurring in nearby televisions from the interfering wires with signals provided by separate image sources. This is because the consumer video source rarely supplies video signals to VHF channels 5 or 6. Secondly, a television connected via a transceiver can easily be combined with a playback signal with a video source in the same premises, such as a cable converter, since the video source almost always uses VHF channels 2, 3 or 4. Finally, the VHF channels 5 and 6 are an advantage of the fact that they are not adjacent to other channels. This means that when combining the signal of the antenna and the telephone line signal, the signal of the telephone line did not approach more than one broadcast signal. This reduces the likelihood of interference because only expensive modulators can completely define the signal within the intended band.
Of course, if a frequency below VHF channel 2 is used for the transmission, the RF converter 3 also needs to be independent of the terminal from which the video signal is derived, but unlike a low VHF channel, it is not tuned in a regular television, so it is connected to a transceiver. The required RF conversion will be shown in FIG. The RF conversion by the two transceivers must in this case be absolutely equal.
Three systems for equality between these conversion operations will be disclosed after the description of the television transceiver.
After being guided or moved to the channel used for transmission, the video signal is passed to the RF amplifier 4, increasing the energy level by a fixed factor. In order to increase the likelihood of successful transmission across all dwellings, if a very high success rate is not achieved with a small number of settings, amplification will result in radiation that meets legal requirements.
This change in design requires an RF amplifier 4 in which the user can adjust the amplification level. As mentioned above, radiation from a wire can be harmful to televisions connected to separate sources, so it is valuable in situations where VHF 3 or 4 is used for transmission. Reduction of the variable signal level potentially allows the user to eliminate this interference as long as the signal level is high enough to cause an undeteriorated picture to occur in the faraway television.
After being amplified, the video signal goes to the coupling network 5 along the conduction path. The network 5 supplies the video signal to the telephone line and allows the control signal of the television receiver to pass through the control signal processing circuit 6. (Converts the control signal from the infrared transmitter to electrical energy in the upper voice band and then to the telephone line. The flow-through process is included in the description of the television transceiver.) The network also balances the energy of the video signal, matches the impedance of the video signal path with the telephone line impedance, blocks the low-frequency switching communication signals from the transceiver electronics, and controls the signal. It performs a function such as blocking the video signal flow to the processing circuit (6). The network 5 does not block the flow of control signals to the RF amplifier 4.
The importance of these functions is explained in the following sections. A detailed electronic circuit design of a preferred embodiment of this network is shown in FIG. 6 and described in detail below.
Balancing the image signal energy on the two leads of the wire promotes the cancellation of the two electromagnetic fields generated by this lead, and dramatically reduces radiation.
In the balanced state achieved by a given network design, the input frequency will have the greatest effect. Since the frequency is known, the design can be done to achieve a reliable balance.
On the other hand, the balance of control signals is limited to less than legal or other important regulations, but the intensity does not go to the critical point because it can be boosted sufficiently for high quality transmission. The impedance of the internal transceiver circuitry is matched to the impedance of the telephone line at the video frequency because if the impedance is not matched, the transition from one medium to another is insufficient and signal energy is wasted. This is important in situations where video signal energy can only produce high quality video. Impedance matching at the frequency used by the control signal is not important because extra power can be used to transmit this signal.
Blocking the transmission of low frequency signals to the transceiver's electronics prevents interference of normal telephony signals. The isolation should ensure that the connection and operation of the transceiver is entirely evident with respect to the functionality of low frequency telephony.
The blocking of the image energy flow flowing to the control signal processing circuit 6 allows the component to reproduce a reliable original control signal without a particularly expensive device. The video signal has a very high energy level while passing through this network and usually breaks down this process.
Note that the network 5 causes the control signal to pass through the RF amplifier 4. This signal is above the baseband frequency and typically does not need to be blocked because the RF amplifier is designed to block low power RF signals incident on the output terminals. Therefore, the amplifier has a side effect of isolating the control signal from the image source. If this information is passed through an amplifier to the RF converter 3 or image source 2, these devices are similarly ignored since they also provide reverse isolation.
The function of the control signal processing circuit 6 is to move down from the baseband to return to the original position of the control signal frequency and drive the infrared radiation bulb 7 with the resultant energy to reproduce the original light pattern. This function completes the processing of the transmission signal from the infrared transmitter via the telephone line, which has not been found in any products so far. A preferred embodiment of the control signal circuit 6 of the image source transceiver is shown in FIG. 9 and will be described in detail later.
If the image source transceiver is located on top of the connected source, it appears to be the most convenient location and there will be no need for a visible path between the infrared bulb and the source's infrared sensing window. This is not a problem as long as the infrared light reflects off the wall and retains its effect and a possible way is known. In order to place the transmitter in this convenient location, the infrared transmission bulb should be driven at high power and wide light widths to reduce the possibility of insufficient reflected energy. It would be reasonable to use multiple bulbs installed at different angles.
The transceiver 1 is connected to the telephone network via a connection cord 12 having a standard plug-in RJ-11 male plug used for connection of a telephone jack. This cord comprises two special components: a touch tone switch 8, a low pass filter 9, and also the two wires of the cord are structurally twisted together. The touch tone switch 8 is a selectable feature provided for the co-operation of the transceiver 1 with other image source transceivers connected to the same network. Its function is described later. For the purposes of the present discussion it is assumed that the switch does not affect the flow of signals through the code 12 or the operation of other components. The other two properties of the low pass filter 9 and the special properties of the cord wire are described in the following sections.
As described above, the telephone apparatus connected to the main transmission path via a short wire wastes significant RF signal energy. In order for the equipment to remain connected to the terminals shared by the transceiver without attenuation, the two wires of the cord, in which the low pass filter 9 composed of two induction coils having low pass characteristics, provides the second terminal for connecting the telephone apparatus 11. Is connected in series. The filter exhibits high impedance to the RF signal, eliminating the highest frequency effects of devices and splits in the wiring.
By twisting the cord conductors, the energy radiated from these conductors is significantly reduced beyond the reduction induced by the voltage balance. When used in combination with a low pass filter, these characteristics remain only for the wires connected to the jacks of the public telephone line interface, and for the cable sheathing from the jacks not included as an important radiation source. If the isolated jack is far from the main transmission line, the likelihood of copying is reduced.) This reduction is important if the television receiving the signal from a separate video source is interrupted by wire radiation on VHF channels 3 or 4.
Shielding wires with metal conductors also reduces radiation. This blocking is more effective if the conductor is connected to the ground plane.
Description of Transceiver Connected to Television Receiver]
Because of the necessity of providing a video signal to a television viewer and a system for infrared signal transmission, a general model has been developed for a transceiver connected between an electric wire and a television receiver to perform the following functions.
1) Receives an infrared control signal, converts the signal into electrical energy, and boosts the frequency of this energy completely into a band above the frequency used for general telephone communication.

2 is an arrangement of electronics of the transceiver 15 to perform this function. The transceiver 15 is described in the next section. This description discloses several selectable models.
The infrared sensing mode 16 is responsive to the control signal of the infrared control signal transmitter 23 which converts into the desired electrical energy. This signal flows to the control signal processing circuit 17 which transforms to a frequency above the telephone communication band. Preferred embodiments of this circuit are shown in FIG. 8 and described later in detail. This embodiment requires a transmission frequency centered at 10.7 MHz.
In the control signal processing circuit 17, the generated signal enters the coupling network 18. This network supplies the control signal to the telephone network line 26 and allows the video signal to pass along the conductor path to the television receiver 22. The network also matches the impedances of the video signal path and the telephone line path, blocks the low frequency signals from the electronics of the transceiver, blocks the backflow of video energy to the control signal processing circuit 17, and prevents harmonics of the control signals. It blocks but does not block the fundamental wave of the control signal directed to the television 22 along the telephone line and the conductor path.
The importance of these functions is explained in the next section. A detailed electronic description of the preferred embodiment is shown in FIG. 7 and described in detail later.
Impedance matching allows for efficient transfer of energy from the telephone line to the device. In the case of an image source transceiver, the efficient transmission of image energy through this coupling is important if the signal energy can only produce a high quality image.
Blocking the transmission of telephone and other low frequency communication signals from the transmission to the transceiver's electronics prevents interference by these signals and interference of DC power supplied to the telephone apparatus. This interruption should make this communication function entirely clear of the transceiver's connection and operation. The blocking of the image signal energy transmitted between the network 18 and the control signal processing circuit 17 is important because it prevents the reduction of the reversed image signal energy along this passage.
The blocking of harmonics other than the fundamental wave of the signal from the control signal processing circuit 17 is important because the frequency and harmonics used for video transmission can occur at the same time. Cause interference. In this process, since the signal information of the harmonic wave is an excess of the information of the fundamental wave, the information is not lost. If the energy level of the control signal is not very high, it is not necessary to block the control signal transmitted to the television receiver 22 through the network 18. This is because the television receiver ignores the energy outside the video channel that the receiver will tune to unless the energy is very high. For example, if the television is tuned to VHF channel 5, it ignores the energy of VHF channel 4. The problem does not arise even when the RF converter 19 is needed. In that case, the control signal is shifted in frequency along the video signal but is rejected by the television tuner for the same reason as before. Since the control signal does not interfere with the television receiver or other hazards, the separate circuit described by the Robinson patent does not need to block the information of the television.
The signal passing through the passage to the television 22 in the network meets the RF converter 19. The above mentioned frequency conversion at the television end is not necessary if a low VHf channel is used for transmission and the signal is transmitted directly from the coupling network 18 to the television 22.
If a channel of less than VHF channel 2 is used for transmission, the RF converter 19 converts the video signal into a channel that can be tuned in a normal television. Because of the potential for interference, this channel should not be used for broadcasting. (Interference can usually be avoided by connecting the transceiver through a shielded coaxial cable. However, many used televisions have no shielded input terminals and many new ones. The television shows slight leakage from other useful terminals such as twin lead terminals.)
The video source transceiver outputs the video signal of the transmission frequency and the transceiver 15 is also input at the same frequency, so the two units clearly cooperate in the RF conversion design. Here, three systems are described which cooperate between RF converters of an open transceiver pair that transmits video on channels below VHF channel 2. In each system, a signal is provided to one television channel of two adjacent broadcasts according to a switch set by a user. In the United States, this feature ensures that the FCC meets the need to provide a signal to a channel that is not used for broadcasting, as one of the two adjacent channels will not always be used for broadcasting, as described above. A detailed description of each system is given below.
The television transceiver is connected to the telephone line network 26 via a cord with an RJ-11 male plug. Like the code used to connect the video source transceiver, this code includes a low pass filter 24, which can be used in the telephone apparatus 25 without loading down the video signal from the network to the transceiver. Create an encouragement terminal to allow the connection.
Unlike cords that connect video source transceivers to telephone lines, it is not dangerous to install this transceiver with twisted cords. This is because the level of image energy passing through the code is so small that it produces less radiation.
The television connected to this transceiver can have other EH video signal sources available, and most televisions have only one terminal for signal input at the VHF frequency, providing users with a switch to quickly select both sources. It is reasonable. Without signals from two sources containing energy in the same channel, any device or component that performs this function will only allow the addition of both sources. Techniques for selecting this combined signal are well known.
Although not shown, these components can be attached in series to a cable for television connection. However, it would be more convenient to include this component as part of the transceiver. In this case, the transceiver would simply include a coaxial terminal for signal input of a second source and could provide a television in the area with either or both sources. The control of the transceiver allows the user to select from a mix of signals provided to the television.
When a signal is received from an image source in a relatively close position, the transceiver 15 is likely to receive a signal having a very high energy level in the television connected thereto. In the case where the transceiver has an RF conversion circuit, the solution is to allow the circuit to handle high signal levels to provide the output terminals with signal levels mostly within the television reception range. If a low VHF channel is used for transmission and no RF conversion circuit is required, one solution is to install an attenuation circuit that reduces the energy of the signal to a level within the normal television's functional range set automatically or manually.
[VHF 채널 2 이하의 전송달성을 위한 RF 변환기용 시스템][System for RF Converter to Achieve Transmission Below VHF Channel 2]
As described above, two types of RF conversion operations are required to transmit an image signal through a wire in VHF channel 2 or less. At the video source end, the transceiver shall convert the signal from a frequency supplied in the band between 6 MHz and 54 MHz. A transceiver connected to the television reproduces the signal in this band and converts it into a channel that is tunable to a regular television receiver. The advantages and disadvantages of each of the three systems for cooperation between these transformations are described in the following sections.
Under each system, the user provides a signal to one of the two adjacent broadcast channels of the television, depending on the switch. Within the United States, the requirement to provide a signal to a channel not used for broadcasting due to this feature is that the FCC has This can be satisfied by not always using one of the channels for broadcast.
The special nature of the conversion action has led to the development of new devices in combination with the novelty of using these channels in video or video products other than the cable distribution function described above.
This system is summarized in the diagram in FIG. Detailed descriptions of the electronics of the various types of converters are not known to achieve this conversion and will be included in the ability of those skilled in the art.
In the first system, the image source transceiver induces a signal at the low VHF terminal, causing fixed downward movement to one of the en adjacent channels. Signals ranging from 24 MHz to 30 MHz or from 30 MHz to 36 MHz appear in VHF channels 3 or 4, for example by fixed downshift of 36 MHz. The final step in this system is that the RF converter in the television receiver sends an equally fixed upshifted and stored signal to the original channel for transmission to the television. Fixed downshifting is one of the two channels actually used for transmission. Or it means that it is determined by the video signal set selected from four.
(There are several video sources that feed on VHF channels 2 or 3 instead of VHF channels 3 or 4. For these sources, the movement should be designed to include at least 18 MHz of bandwidth rather than 12 MHz.)
The advantage of this system is that the flexibility already provided by the low VHF terminal of the video source can be used to ensure that the untransmitted channel of the television is fed. This saves manufacturing costs by designing the RF converter to relay on a fixed basis.
The second system requires an RF converter in the video source transceiver that uses the video signal from the bassband terminal to modulate the carrier into one of two adjacent channels below VHF channel 2, depending on the switch set by the user. Alternatively, according to other equivalent formats, it is usually reasonable to have a modulator combine the audio signal with the video signal, and to modulate using this combined signal.) In coordination with these conversions, the RF transceiver of the television transceiver It is up-converted by quantitation. For example, the upshift of 24 MHz to 30 MHz is 52 MHz in VHF channel 3 or 4, and the upshift of 150 MHz in VHF channel 5 or 6 is shown in VHF channel 7 or 8 by modulation.
An important advantage of this model over the first is that it is designed to derive the signal from the baseband of the image source as described above. In addition, there is a convenience in that inexpensive modulation UC can be used to install a circuit that needs to constitute an image modulator that selects one of the two carriers in the range of 10 MHz to 100 MHz. Finally, adjacent VHF channel pairs can be selected, rather than VHF channels 3 or 4, allowing the signal passed through the television to combine with signals from the most common video sources.
Two variants of the second system are disclosed. In the first variant, the switch is automatically adjusted. This depends on circuitry that tests the telephone line to detect the presence of broadcast energy in one of the two channels used to provide the television's signal (the broadcast energy is present in the telephone line because the telephone line acts like an antenna to some extent). The transducer is set up in the image source transceiver to supply the transmission frequency, confirming that the channel shown on the television set is ultimately not used for local broadcasting.
The second variant is that when the RF converter of the image source transceiver converts the 12 MHz band across this channel into a television transceiver by simultaneously providing a video signal of two adjacent channels below VHF channel 2, in both adjacent tunable channels. Produce a signal.
The second system also includes an RF converter that requires an image source transceiver to derive the signal at the baseband terminals but has a single carrier that modulates the signal into a single fixed channel used for transmission. The RF transceiver of the television transceiver then executes one of the two upconversions, depending on the switch set by the user, to create one of the two adjacent low VHF channels. For example, if the transport channel spans 24 MHz to 30 MHz, upshifts of 36 MHz and 42 MHz will appear in VHF channels 3 and 4 and upshifts of 52 MHz and 58 MHz will appear in VHF channels 5 and 6.
In this variant, the converting section of the television transceiver is capable of passive tuning, which is constantly changing instead of the two fixed upshifts. Of course, it allows the signal to be displayed on the television over a tuning successive channel. The provision of passive tuning reduces the precision required for both transducers, but with some savings.
Like the second model, the two variants of the third model also have the advantage of baseband input and the ability to output adjacent VHF frequencies rather than VHF channels 3 and 4. The main advantage of the second model is that it is possible to select the optimal single Sub-VHF channel 2 in terms of radiation, attenuation, interference of broadcast sources, legal restrictions and the cost of the converter.
This third system is desirable because this advantage and transmission on channels below VHF channel 2 provide very important reliability for consumer products. Fixed unadjustable tuning is also desirable because of the convenience of the consumer goods. When used below 30 MHz, it is desirable that the channel spans 24 MHz to 30 MHz, because of the autonomy of the regulations on radiation of the United States FCC and the cost burden of the converter when used at low frequencies. Finally, it is advantageous to combine this channel with a broadcast signal or other video source, so it is desirable to indicate the signal on VHF channels 5 or 6 of the television. (This selectivity is an RF source that interferes with channels below VHF 2 throughout the United States. Special or non-proprietary information about the presence or frequency strength of the signal changes as it is not currently available to the present inventors).
Two other variants of the third system are now disclosed. First the switch is adjusted automatically. This depends on circuitry set up to sense broadcast energy and to convert the transmitted video energy of the television transceiver's RF converter into a channel not used for broadcast. Secondly, the RF transceiver of the television transceiver will simultaneously provide video signals to both adjacent tunable channels.

The transceiver pair described above provides the ability to view and adjust the image source on a remote television. However, cost savings can be achieved by incorporating the functionality of an open television receiver into the television.
The special television 30 shown is combined as above. This television is configured to cooperate with the image source transceiver described above. This is similar to that used for the transceiver described above with a code including a low pass filter 32 and allows the telephone apparatus to share the same jack without loading down the video signal of the wire.
Televisions employ infrared sensing diodes to convert infrared signals into electrical signals. This signal passes to the special control signal processing circuit 37 and the standard control signal processing circuit 41. The standard circuit 41 responds to this signal which controls the television action in a general manner. The special control signal processing circuit 37 transforms the electrically converted control signal into a frequency band equal to or greater than the maximum frequency used for general telephone communication, and transmits the converted control signal to the coupling network 34.
The function performed by the special control signal processing circuit 37 is the same as the function performed by the control signal processing unit included in the transceiver connected to the television as described above. The preferred embodiment of the circuit is also the same. This embodiment is shown in FIG. 8 and described later.
The coupling network 34 transmits a control signal to the telephone network line 3 and transmits an image signal from the conductor path to the RF converter 35. The coupling network 34 also matches the impedance of the conductor path to the RF converter with the impedance of the telephone line, interrupts the flow of the video signal to the special control signal processing circuit 37 and blocks the harmonics of the control signal, but the telephone line and the RF converter. The fundamental signal of the video signal of the conductor path to (35) does not block.
The function of this network is the same as that of the combined network included in the above-described television transceiver. A description of the importance of these functions has been included in the description of the device. Preferred embodiments of the circuits used here are also the same. This embodiment is shown in FIG. 7 and described later.
The video signal and the RF control signal are transmitted from the combined network 34 to the RF converter 35. Coupling networks convert video signals into tunable channels by common television tuners. However, if a low VHF channel is used for transmission over the wire, a regular television tuner can tune to the transmitted signal and no RF converter is required. The signal from the RF converter 35 is sent to the RF signal combiner 36. (If the RF converter 35 is not required, the signal flows directly from the coupling network 34 to this combiner 36.) The RF combiner 36 Accepts video signals from local video sources where possible. This will select the signal from one source or another source that either sums the signals of the two sources or passes through the tuner 38. The final synthesized signal transmitted to the tuning unit 38 is adjusted by the manual adjustment of the television 30 or the infrared control signal received by the infrared sensing diode 42.
The RF converter 35 disclosed herein may assist each other with the RF converter of the image source transceiver using one of three systems for cooperation between RF conversion elements at both ends of the communication path. The RF converter 35 included in the television can simply function as the RF converter of the above-described television transceiver and also perform a corresponding conversion to the RF converter of the video signal transceiver.
A variant of the third system for cooperation between transducers is disclosed in the case of a special television receiver 30. In this variant, the RF converter 35 demodulates the incoming video signal and injects the signal into a component of a television which generally receives the demodulated signal (in this case the demodulated signal is not transmitted to the combiner and a combiner is necessary). The signal from the other video source 43 is transmitted to the tuner without being combined). This variation prevents the transducer from providing a signal to one of the two adjacent channels and is generally cheaper than the others.
Note that if the television tuner 38 can tune to signals below VHF channel 2, then the RF converter 35 is not needed. Since it is economical to adopt generic television models with simple components, this converter has been provided as an option to provide a special tuner for the television.
In a preferred embodiment the video signal is transmitted over the wire at frequencies below VHF channel 2 and an RF converter is necessary since the television tuner 38 is tuned only to channels which are generally tuneable. Channels below VHF 2 are preferred because of the reduced likelihood of image degradation, and RF converters are preferred because they believe it is economical to adopt a standard television model with an additional converter.
Transmission channels spanning 30 MHz within 24 MHz are preferred and the television's RF converter upconverts the channel to VHF channel 5 or 6 by either 52 MHz or 58 MHz according to the command of a switch or infrared regulator set on the television. It is desirable to. This embodiment follows the system selected for equality between the RF converter of the image source transceiver and the RF converter of the television transceiver as described previously. The above reasons also apply in this case. Since demodulation of the video signal is not sure of cost, it is preferable not to select it here.
The special television 30 is new in three ways. First, it is connected to an active telephone line, does not cause interference, and induces a video signal to be combined with a video signal from another source. The second detects infrared signals for the purpose of controlling television functions, converts them into electrical RF energy and passes them to a telephone line for controlling video sources associated with other devices. Finally, the signal can be tuned to channels below VHF 2.
When the television 30 cooperates with the image source transceiver described above, it allows the user to view and adjust a remote image source. In order to further increase the usefulness of this coupling without the extra cost, a unique coupling scheme of this device with special known technology is disclosed in the next section.
In order to adjust the image source at the location where the special television receiver 30 is located, the infrared transmission unit controlling the source should usually be available at that location. This is not always convenient as the transmission unit is clearly needed at the location of the image source. The inclusion of the instruction set of the image source regulator as an extra set available with the television 30 itself has its own infrared regulator, significantly increasing the convenience of the system at no extra cost.
Recently, the use of an infrared control unit with a plurality of command sets, including the command set of other regulators, has become possible, and indeed has other devices with the ability to obey the command sets of other regulators. The new coupling scheme disclosed herein adds to a common coordinator similar to the coupling of the cooperative television 30 and the transceiver 1 described. This will dramatically increase the usefulness of the pair of devices described above.
System to avoid interference from broadcasting source]
상기한 장치에 의하여 전송된 신호는 전화선을 통과하여 소스로부터 수신기에 도달한다. 전술한 바와 같이 이 기술의 잠재적 문제점은 근처의 소스로부터의 RF방송에너지는 전선에 의하여 수신되어 신호이득을 방해한다는 것이다. 영상신호를 낮은 VHF채널에서 전송하는 모형을 선택하면 이 장치는 지역방송에 사용되지 않는 채널에 신호를 제공한다. 이러한 보호는 영상신호가 VHF채널 2 이하의 주파수에서 전송시에는 소용이 없다. 그러나 다음과 같은 요인은 간섭의 가능성이 거의없다;The signal transmitted by the device reaches the receiver from the source through the telephone line. As mentioned above, a potential problem with this technique is that RF broadcast energy from nearby sources is received by the wires and interferes with signal gain. Selecting a model that transmits video signals on a low VHF channel, the device provides a signal for channels that are not used for local broadcasting. This protection is of no use when the video signal is transmitted at frequencies below VHF channel 2. However, the following factors have little chance of interference;
간섭신호는 시청할 수 있을 정도의 열화된 화면 신호이득의 40데시벨 이내의 에너지 레벨을 가져야 한다.a) The signal-to-noise ratio for obtaining a good image is relatively low, about 40 decibels. The interfering signal should have an energy level within 40 decibels of visually degraded picture signal gain.
간섭신호는 도전 에너지를 만드는데는 효과적이 아닌 안테나로 작용하는 전선으로부터 수신되어야 한다.b) The gain signal is transmitted to the point wire. Interfering signals should be received from wires acting as antennas that are not effective at producing conductive energy.
c) 전선이 방송에너지를 수신할 가능성은 주파수의 감소와 함께 줄어든다.c) The likelihood of a wire receiving broadcast energy decreases with decreasing frequency.
d) 신호이득의 레벨은 잠재적인 간섭을 피할 수 있도록 승압될 수 있다.(그러나 법적 기술적 강제성 때문에 이 에너지를 승압시키는데는 제한이 있다.)d) The level of signal gain can be boosted to avoid potential interference (but due to legal and technical constraints there is a limit to boosting this energy).
Despite these factors, experiments show that interference can occur. Three methods for avoiding interference are discussed next.
조사한 바에 의하면 아마추어 라디오는 7㎒, 14㎒, 21㎒ 및 28㎒의 협대역으로 분할되어 영상신호에 알맞은 7㎒의 간격이 있다는 중요한 사실이 나타났다.a) It is possible to select a frequency band that is not used by many transmitters operating at high power near the residential area. This method requires transmission of assigned frequencies and broadcast patterns. The research shows that amateur radio is divided into narrow bands of 7MHz, 14MHz, 21MHz and 28MHz, so that there is an interval of 7MHz suitable for video signals.
b) 영상소스 트랜시버는 동시에 신호를 두 개의 주파수 대역으로 전송할 수 있으며 화면을 제공하는 텔레비젼 단부에서 간섭을 받지 않도록 신호를 선택할 수 있다.b) The video source transceiver can simultaneously transmit the signal in two frequency bands and select the signal so that it is free from interference at the television end providing the picture.
In the case of a cooperative transceiver pair, the video source transceiver simultaneously transmits the same signal on two separate non-overlapping channels below VHF channel 2. The transceiver of the transceiver connected to the television chooses to accept one of the two channels by manual or automatic processing and converts the energy of that channel into tunable energy that is not used for broadcasting. The circuit shall include means for detecting the presence of broadcast energy in two channels.)
In the case of special televisions that are cooperative with the image source transceiver and include a special RF converter, the converter performs the same function as that of the television transceiver. If the television tuner can tune directly to a signal below VHF channel 2 and choose a design that does not include a converter, the tuner tunes to only one channel or another.
화질의 열화가 어느정도 발생하면 기지의 기술을 사용하여 차폐 텔레비젼수신기에서 간섭을 받지 않을 정도로 잔류 측파대를 재생시킬 수 있다.c) Since the information of the NTSC video signal edges is excessive, the edges of these signals are filtered out before appearing on the television to remove interference energy at these edges. The first frequency of 1.25 MHz, usually of the NTSC channel, especially known as the residual sideband, may be filtered out before being displayed on television. This reduces the image bandwidth from 5,75 MHz to 4.5 MHz and reduces the chance of interference. If there is some deterioration in image quality, known techniques can be used to reproduce the residual sidebands without interference from the shielded television receiver.
Signals 0.25 MHz higher than the total 5.75 MHz video signal can also be filtered out without a significant decrease in image quality. But removing this energy will remove the audio information located in the image information. The solution is to convert the audio signal to a different frequency and convert it to the appropriate location before it is displayed on the television.
System for simultaneous transmission of second video signal]
An image source transceiver that connects a second source to the same residential wire network must obviously transmit a signal at a frequency to operate simultaneously with the first source. Ideally, this transceiver is in partnership with the television transceiver without any design changes. This makes the design of major transceiver pairs as economical as possible and also allows for expansion of the system to include a second source.
If a low VHF channel is used for transmission, the design of the second video source transceiver is simplified. The transceiver simply transmits a signal on one channel of the second pair of adjacent low VHF channels. For example, if the first video source transceiver uses VHF channels 5 or 6, the second transceiver can use VHF channels 2 or 3. The above-described television transceiver can provide two signals to a television receiver without changing the design. .
The first transmitter uses channels below VHF 2, the second transceiver uses low VHF channels, and minor modifications are needed to the design of the transceiver connected to the television. Modifications require an extra signal path to the TV that bypasses the RF converter. This path contains an unaltered low VHF signal that can be easily combined with a signal that is highly modulated by the RF converter. Of course, the channel by the RF converter must be different from the channel used for transmission with the second source.
Since the television transceiver must convert to a tunable second channel that is not used for second signal broadcasting, the problem is complicated when two video signals are transmitted in the VHF 2 channel or less. Also, the frequency shift by the second signal need not be the same as the frequency shift by the first signal. The biggest problem, however, lies in the discovery of the extra 6 MHz without being interrupted by broadcast sources.
Of course, the extra transceiver that transmits the image through the same channel as the first transceiver may be connected as long as the viewer uses only one of the groups to which the transceiver is connected. In the next section, two models of a system are presented that allow the user to operate exactly one of several connected video source transceivers that transmit the same frequency quickly and conveniently.
The first model requires signals from all transceivers except for one of the transceivers that are disconnected from the transmission to the wire. Shutdown is achieved with the touchtone switch 8 shown in FIG. The switch has a means of connecting the transceiver and the telephone jack with a cord to completely cut off the low-pass filter or a signal higher than the lower frequencies used for video transmission. There are two switches installed, one for the filter to work and the other for disturbing it. The switch responds to the dual tone multi frequency (DTMF) commonly found in telephones, allowing the user to conveniently select an active source from multiple connected sources. Any general logic command system is sufficient. This switch is not shown since the RF filter and touchtone switch are well known.
The second model requires each image source transceiver to induce power and transmit at the same frequency through a powerline switch similar to that manufactured by X-10. This switch connects the power cord and AC output terminal. The switch detects high frequency control signals from remote devices via wires and operates to cut off or pass power to electrical devices connected along the power line. This transmits a control signal through the AC cable, allowing remote control of the AC power of any device in the residence. This allows the user to conveniently select one of a number of sources that share the transmission frequency by activating AC power that is used only for that source and transceiver and not for other sources.
The first model is preferred over the second model, which requires a special transmitter for signal transmission because it transmits a signal demonstrating homogeneity of the active transceiver using a normal touch tone telephone.
Description of Adapter for Central Telephone Switching Unit]
As mentioned at the outset, satisfactory conduction paths are not always available in residential areas because telephone jacks are directly connected to the central electronic interface unit connected to the public telephone network. Because of this geographic area, potential conduction paths from one jack to another pass through this unit, which could potentially break the connection.
Inexpensive adapters are needed to operate devices published within these networks. This adapter is shown in FIG.
Usually the wires from jack 50 in the first zone are connected to the terminal 56 of the electronic switching unit 58 installed in the first zone. Similarly the electric wires from the jack 53 of the second zone 54 are connected to the terminal 57 of the unit installed in the second zone.
Adapter 58 bypasses this connection through pairs of low pass filters 59 and 60. The adapter blocks high frequency signal transmission from the switching unit and eliminates attenuation. Filtration can be done by using a pair of inductors already known to achieve low frequency filtration of any telephone device that shares the jack of one of the two cooperative transceivers.
The high pass filter 61 connects a passage from the first zone to the second zone at a high frequency and completes a conduction path of an image and a control signal between the connected jacks. Low frequency energy transmission through this passage is interrupted and separates the other low frequency communications between the phone and each jack and switching unit. In a preferred embodiment, high frequency filtration can be done using a pair of 100 PF capacitors connected as shown.
The problem of inadequate video signal energy in the area where the television is located has already been described. The disclosed adapters provide a contact point for the signal at the midpoint of the transmission path, thus presenting a new solution to this problem. The solution (not shown) requires an amplifier with an adapter. The path from the video source can pass through this amplifier just before it is connected to the adapter. In this way part of the amplification required is distributed to the image source transceiver and the other part is supplied to the switching unit. This reduces the peak signal power at any point for the given level of total amplification and thus reduces the maximum level of radiation.
It is also possible to make a bypass of an amplifier that transmits this signal in a system that transmits control signals. The bypass circuit simply installs a conduction path around the amplifier including a filter that blocks the video signal. Similarly, the input to the amplifier requires a filter to block the control signal.
The technique disclosed herein does not limit the network in the area, and since the molded wiring including the central switching unit is common in telephone networks installed in commercial buildings, the disclosed adapters have an important function of benefiting from the video transmission technology.
Detailed Description of Combined Network Circuits
The aforementioned cooperative transceiver refers to a combined network circuit in functional terms. Preferred embodiments of this circuit are described in detail.
6 shows a preferred embodiment of the coupling circuit of the image source transceiver. An important element of this circuit is a transformer wound around a toroide core 71. There are three separate windings corresponding to the terminals (ports) leading to the telephone network 72, the video signal amplifier 73 and the control signal processing circuit 74. Special winding methods for telephone line terminals ensure that their balance is maximized.
The low pass filter 75 of the terminal leading to the control signal processing circuit 74 cuts a frequency higher than the frequency used for the control signal. This cuts off the image energy, prevents interruption of energy control signal processing and prevents the video signal from being carried on the telephone line.
Coils with different number of turns for each of the three terminals are wound on the toroid coil. (The number of turns shown is for illustration only.) The impedance matching between the telephone line terminal and the other two terminals is determined by the ratio of the number of turns. do. Since the video terminal and the control signal terminal have different impedances at different frequencies, the turns ratio should be different.
The impedance matching for the video signal is strictly controlled by the turns ratio between the telephone and video terminals. This is dependent on the winding at the infrared terminal as the filter 75 prohibits the flow of image energy to the infrared terminal.
The capacitor 77 operates as a high-pass cutoff filter, exhibits high impedance for direct current and low frequency, and prevents interference in a general telecommunication frequency band.
7 shows a preferred embodiment of the coupling network of a television transceiver. The main element of this network is the transformer wound around the toroid core 80. The special winding connection method for the telephone line leading to the telephone line 81, the television receiver 82, and the control signal processing circuit 83 is not necessary because the energy level at the end is low and the maximum balance is not important.
The low pass filter 84 on the control signal terminal passes the 10.7 MHz signal and blocks the harmonics of 10.7 MHz. Harmonics with excess information on the basic information may interfere with the video signal. This control signal enters both telephone lines and the television. A filter 84 for preventing loading down of the video signal also blocks the video signal of the control signal terminal.
Different numbers of windings for the three terminals are wound on the toroidal core (the number of turns shown is not for illustrative purposes only). The impedance matching is determined by the turns ratio, the level of the control signal affects the impedance mismatch. The impedance of the terminal is properly matched only at the video frequency between the telephone and video terminals because it is so high that it can be easily left.
Capacitor 85 acts as a filter for blocking DC and low frequency energy to prevent interference at normal telecommunication frequencies.
Various modifications or variations of the preferred embodiments of the foregoing coupling network will be apparent to those skilled in the art. For example, the number of turns may be different and included without being limited to multiples of the number of turns of the broadband. Otherwise, it may be changed within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
Detailed Description of Control Signal Processing Circuit]
The description of the combined transceiver is called a control signal processing circuit in functional terms. Preferred embodiments of this circuit are described in detail.
8 shows a control signal processing circuit in a television transceiver for detecting an infrared signal and converts the infrared signal into RF energy. This circuit consists of a photodiode 101 high gain amplifier 102 thresholded zero crossing detector 103 and a gate oscillator 104. These devices produce modified RF carriers whose envelope is identical to the infrared signal waveform.
The RF carrier passes through the coupling network 105 and is connected to the line. 8 is designed to supply only control signals. A preferred embodiment of the coupling network designed to include the reproduction of the video signal of the wire is shown in FIG. 7 and already described.
Photodiode 101 acts as a source of current proportional to the intensity of light entering the passband of the spectrum. This photocurrent is converted into a voltage by the resistor 110 and amplified by the integrated circuit 111,
Capacitors 112 and 113 reduce the low frequency gain of the amplifier so that the receiver is not sensitive to surrounding signal sources such as sunlight or AC power ornaments oscillating at nominal 120 Hz. Transistor 114 buffers the output of the amplifier, shifts the level, and passes the signal to a zero crossing detector 102.
The output of the sensing section 103 is a dual level waveform corresponding to the received infrared signal. If the incoming signal is greater than the mean of the term, this output is large and otherwise less. The noise effect is suppressed by disabling the dual-level signal except when the input signal deviates from the fixed threshold. The dual level waveform is fed to the oscillator which energizes or disables the RF carrier. Therefore, the desired AM signal is generated in the RF frequency band.
The output of the comparator 122 is set high when the luminous flux is greater than the term average and is configured using an average time of 100 msec determined by the capacitor 127.
The noise state is reduced by the comparator 123. The comparator lowers the output when the input signal is a fixed amount that is greater than the term average. The threshold is set so that the noise does not exceed. The threshold can be changed as desired by varying the ratio of resistors 116 and 117 that provide different levels of noise suppression.
Capacitor 126 generates a low output to keep the output of the comparator low for a period of time. Comparator 124 merges with this output and another comparator 125 is used to merge this output with the output of another comparator 122. In this way, the output is present at the oscillation part without interference when the intrinsic signal is present and immediately disappears when the signal disappears.
The transistor 118 in the oscillation portion is composed of a Coolfitz oscillation circuit that mainly determines the frequency by the capacitor 119 and the variable inductor 120. In a preferred embodiment this frequency is chosen to be 10.7 MHz because of the satisfactory tuning of the tuning device. When the oscillator is disabled by the comparator 125, several milliamperes of idle current is induced through the inductor and resistor. This idle current operates the oscillator in microseconds when the oscillator is activated by a comparator 125 which is high impedance at the collector open output.
9 shows a control signal processing circuit of an image source transceiver using a signal reproduced from a circuit for reproducing an infrared pattern sensed by a television transceiver. The circuit consists of an RF amplifier / detector 131 threshold / drive circuit 132 and an output light emitting diode 142.
The control signal is reproduced from the telephone line by the telephone coupling network 130. The combined network shown in FIG. 9 is designed to reproduce only control signals of the network. In a preferred embodiment the coupling network is designed to transmit video signals to the network and is shown in FIG. 6 and described previously.
The signal reproduced in the network passes through the RF filter 133. Part of the coupling network, this filter is a ceramic filter that passes a band with a center frequency of 10.7MHz and a bandwidth of 280kHz. This matches the characteristics of the RF signal generated by the infrared signal processing circuit.
The RF amplifier / sensor 131 senses the signal passing through the amplification envelope. In a preferred embodiment this function is performed by the 3089 type integrated circuit 134 which is used as an intermediate frequency amplifier in commercial FM radio.
The sensed signal is logarithmically related to the magnitude of the RF input signal. The sensed output is relaxed by Darlington transistor 140. The comparator 141 detects a critical point by comparing the instant envelope of the detection signal with the maximum envelope of the detection signal. Each time the envelope exceeds the maximum fixed percentage, the comparator turns on the light emitting diode 142. Resistors 143 and 144 set the threshold of the transmitter; The light emitting diode will not be driven unless the minimum signal level at the input of the integrated circuit 134 is exceeded.
While one or more preferred embodiments have been provided as described above, various modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art for the purposes of the present invention. Therefore, the present invention should be limited only by the scope of the appended claims.
