The conventional honeycomb foam layer has a disadvantage in that it is difficult to manufacture, heavy, and cracking occurs as a whole. The sandwich structure according to the present invention has a foam layer having a different density from each other. Sandwich structure according to the present invention has an advantage of excellent strength, impact resistance compared to the weight, even if a crack is generated does not proceed as a whole structure. The sandwich structure according to the present invention is very useful when used in places where high strength, high rigidity and impact resistance are required, in particular in exterior panels of cabin vehicles or cabins.

The present invention relates to a sandwich structure, and more particularly, to a sandwich structure suitable for use where high strength, high rigidity, impact resistance is required as well as excellent sound absorption, dustproof and heat insulation.

In general, a sandwich structure is composed of both skin layers of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) and an intermediate layer of foam therebetween for the purpose of sound absorption, dustproofing and insulation. When the sandwich structure is to be molded to have a high strength and high rigidity, when using a high-density rigid foam is generally obtained high strength, but heavy. On the other hand, low-density soft foams are lighter but less rigid.

The conventionally developed one has a foam adhered to a honey-comb structure to make a sandwich structure having high strength and high rigidity. Sandwich structure made in this way is excellent in strength but heavy, and has a disadvantage in that the honeycomb and foam to be manufactured separately during manufacture. In addition, adhesion between the honeycomb and the foam is also a difficult problem, and in some cases, separation between the two layers may occur. In this case, too, when a large impact is applied, cracking of the foam proceeds as a whole.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a sandwich structure which can prevent cracking of the foam as a whole due to a large impact or the like, and which is light while having excellent strength and excellent impact resistance.
