Abstract

Disclosed is a compact disc play-back method. The method includes a first step which controls a first focusing operation, a second step which judges whether a disc area is a data area or not when the focusing is on at the first step, a third step which controls a tracking if the disc area is a data area at the second step and tries reading of TOC and then performs a normal play-back operation if it succeeds to read TOC, a fourth step which judges the disc area if it fails to read TOC and continuously tries the TOC reading if it is a data area from the result of the judgement at the third step and if it is not data area moves an object lens so that a pick-up means can approach to a data area, a fifth step which controls to move of the object lens and the feed motor so that the pick-up means can approach to the data area, a sixth step which performs a normal play-back operation if a data search succeeds after track jump in a long jump mode, and a seventh step which tries a continuous search if the data search fails and it is data area, and if it is not data area make the pick-up means approach to the data area by moving the object lens and the feed motor. Thus, disc congestion can be prevented.
