A bone plating system for a patient, the system comprising:

a substantially trapezoidal second bone plate sized and shaped to fit a second bone portion of the patient, the second bone plate having a second bone engaging surface, a second tissue engaging surface; a second bone plate having a proximal end, a distal end, and a peripheral edge;
at least one connecting bridge member having a first end and a second end, the first end of the at least one connecting bridge member being connected to the second end of the first bone plate; at least one connecting bridge member connected to the edge, the second end of the at least one connecting bridge member being connected to the proximal end of the second bone plate;
The proximal end of the second bone plate is spaced a first distance from the second edge of the first bone plate, and the distal end of the second bone plate is spaced apart from the second edge of the first bone plate. a second distance from the second edge of one bone plate, the second distance being greater than the first distance;

the at least one fixation port has a wall surrounding the bore, the wall defining a head-receiving volume of the bore adjacent the second tissue-engaging surface; a shaft clearance surface defining a substantially frustoconically shaped shaft-receiving volume of the bore adjacent the bone-engaging surfaces of 2;
the fastener support surface is adjacent to the shaft clearance surface such that the fastener support surface and the shaft clearance surface have a common vertex extending around at least a portion of the bore; , a fastener support axis adjacent the common apex, the fastener support axis extending at an angle of 90 degrees or less with respect to the bone engagement axis;
