Claims

A registration process for a slice in a cell by a user equipment (UE) in a network, the process comprising:
sending, by the UE, a registration request to the network, the registration request including a list of neighboring cells corresponding to a set of network slices for access;
initiating an authentication procedure to authenticate the access between the UE and the network;
After completion of the authentication procedure, allowing the access and making available to the UE a list of authorized slice identities (IDs) generated by an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF); the list of authorized slice IDs includes the authorized slice IDs having the access based on subscription information;
sending, by the AMF, a registration acceptance message to the UE;
initiating, by the AMF, the slice-specific authentication of the UE for an accessible restricted slice in response to slice-specific authentication;
upon completion of the slice-specific authentication by the AMF for each slice from the set of slices accessible after slice-specific authentication, allowing slice access by the UE to the set of slices;
Registration process, including:

tangibly embodied in a computer readable storage device and when executed by a processor, performing a method of selective access of a plurality of available slices of a network from at least one cell by a user equipment (UE); A computer program product comprising a set of instructions, the method comprising:
sending a registration request to the network, the registration request including a list of neighboring cells corresponding to a set of network slices for access;
initiating an authentication procedure to authenticate the access between the UE and the network;
After completion of the authentication procedure, making available to the UE a list of authorized slice identities (IDs) generated by an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF); making available the list including the authorized slice IDs with the access based on subscription information;
allowing slice access to the set of slices upon completion of the slice specific authentication by the AMF for each slice from the set of slices accessible after slice specific authentication;
receiving a registration acceptance message by the UE from the AMF;
receiving a success message from the AMF in response to the AMF performing slice-specific authentication of the UE for access to a restricted slice by the UE;
computer program products, including;

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) having a processor, a memory, and an input/output interface, the processor comprising: a method for initiating a registration process for a slice in a cell by the UE in a network; configured to execute instructions stored in memory;
sending a registration request to the network, the registration request including a list of neighboring cells corresponding to a set of network slices for access;
initiating an authentication procedure to authenticate the access between the UE and the network;
After completion of the authentication procedure, allowing the access and making available to the UE a list of authorized slice identities (IDs) generated by an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF); and wherein the list of authorized slice IDs includes the authorized slice IDs having the access based on subscription information;
In response to both the UE requesting slice-specific authentication and initiating the authentication procedure, the Initiating slice specific authentication;
receiving a registration acceptance message by the UE from the AMF;
receiving a success message from the AMF in response to the AMF performing slice-specific authentication of the UE for access to a restricted slice by the UE;
