SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present disclosure relates to copolymer molecules that include multiple molecules of a first payload molecule, and methods of making the copolymers. The copolymer carrying the payload is
(a) (1) a co-principal monomer of formula I comprising an azide moiety;
(2) a polymerizable main monomer characterized in that the monomer has at least one vinyl group and does not contain an amino acid moiety or an azide moiety;
(3) polymerizing a reaction mixture comprising an initiator system for generating free radical species, wherein the polymerization results in a copolymer; and (b) typically via a click reaction. A first payload molecule, typically functionalized with a functional group, is prepared by coupling a first payload molecule, typically functionalized with a functional group, to an azide moiety contained in the copolymer of step (a).
The present invention provides, for example, the following items.
