Claims (9)

an outer member;
an inner member configured to slide axially within the outer member;
a transmitter carrier configured to support the transmitter and biosensor assembly and including a bias member;
an insertion device;
a pivot member configured to pivot relative to the transmitter carrier to support the insertion device;
axial movement of the outer member is configured to urge the biasing member against the pivot member;
a force applied to the outer member over a first portion of stroke causes the pivot member to impart axial movement to the transmitter carrier and the insertion device;
over a second portion of the stroke, the biasing member causes pivoting movement of the pivot member, and the pivoting movement of the pivot member retracts the insertion device;
the outer member has a first pivot window and the inner member has a second pivot window;
At least a portion of the pivotal movement of the pivot member moves through the first pivot window of the outer member such that the end of the pivot member enters the first pivot window through the second pivot window. overlaps the second pivot window of the inner member .
