C is the cationic steroid antibacterial (CSA) moiety)

wherein said CSA is CSA-8, CSA-13, CSA-44, CSA-90, CSA-91, CSA-124, CSA-131, CSA-133, CSA-138, CSA-142, CSA-190, CSA- 191, and CSA-192, eg, wherein said CSA is CSA-13, CSA-90, or CSA-131, preferably CSA-90.
Aspect 3
The bone-binding moiety is a bisphosphonate, for example, the bisphosphonate is from etidronate, clodronate, tiludronate, pamidronate, medronate, etidronate, neridronate, olpadronate, alendronate, ibandronate, aminomethylenediphosphonate, risedronate, and zoledronate. preferably said bisphosphonate is selected from the group consisting of alendronate, pamidronate and neridronate, more preferably said bisphosphonate is alendronate .
Aspect 4
A compound according to any of aspects 1-3, wherein said linker is hydrophilic.
Aspect 5
A compound according to any of aspects 1-4, wherein said linker has a molecular weight of less than about 2 kDa.

A compound according to any of aspects 1-5, wherein said linker comprises polyethylene glycol (PEG).

The linker has the following structure:
X is independently selected from O and S;
T is absent or an alkanediyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms;
Y is absent or an alkanediyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms;
n is an integer from 1 to 30;

A pharmaceutical composition according to aspect 11 or 12, which is suitable for oral or parenteral administration.

A pharmaceutical composition according to aspect 11 or 12, which is suitable for intravenous administration.

15. A method of treating a bone infection in a subject, comprising administering to said subject a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14.

16. The method of aspect 15, wherein said infection is a bacterial infection, eg, said infection is a Staphylococcus aureus infection, a Staphylococcus epidermidis infection, or a Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.
Aspect 17
17. The method of aspects 15 or 16, wherein said bone comprises a fracture.
Aspect 18
18. The method of any of aspects 15-17, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered systemically to said subject.
Aspect 19
The method of any of aspects 15-18, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject orally or parenterally.
Aspect 20
The method of any of aspects 15-18, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject intravenously.
Aspect 21
A method according to any of aspects 15-20, wherein said subject is a mammal, eg, said subject is a human.
Aspect 22
A method of treating osteomyelitis in a subject, comprising administering to said subject a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14.
Aspect 23
23. The method of aspect 22, wherein the osteomyelitis is associated with a Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, or Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.
Aspect 24
24. The method of aspects 22 or 23, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject orally or parenterally.
Aspect 25
24. The method of aspects 22 or 23, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject intravenously.

26. The method of any of aspects 23-25, wherein said subject is a mammal, eg, said subject is a human.
Aspect 27
15. A method of promoting bone formation in a subject, comprising administering to said subject a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14.

28. The method of aspect 27, wherein the subject has a bone disorder selected from the group consisting of fracture, spinal cord injury, disc degeneration, Paget's disease, bone cancer, metastatic bone cancer, and osteoporosis.
Aspect 29
29. The method of aspects 27 or 28, wherein the bone of the subject is infected with one or more bacteria, such as one or more of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, or Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Aspect 30
30. The method of any of aspects 27-29, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered systemically to said subject.
Aspect 31
The method of any of aspects 27-30, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject orally or parenterally.
Aspect 32
The method of any of aspects 27-30, wherein said compound or said pharmaceutical composition is administered to said subject intravenously.
Aspect 33
A method according to any of aspects 27-32, wherein said subject is a mammal, eg, said subject is a human.

Use of a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14 in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a bone infection in a subject.

Use of a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14 in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of osteomyelitis in a subject.

Use of a compound according to any of aspects 1-10 or a pharmaceutical composition according to any of aspects 11-14 in the manufacture of a medicament for promoting bone formation in a subject.
