Claims

A consumable product for use in an aerosol generator, comprising:
a foam matrix impregnated with a medium for generating an aerosol ;
a packaging element containing the foam matrix;
wherein the packaging element is configured to hold the foam matrix in a first compressed configuration prior to use of the consumable product in an aerosol generating device;
The packaging element has a first sacrificial seal, and when the first sacrificial seal is opened, the packaging element holds the foam matrix in a second less compressible configuration, and at least the second A consumable product wherein said foam matrix in a less compressible configuration allows fluid to pass therethrough.

2. The consumable product of claim 1, wherein said packaging element has a second sacrificial seal.

3. The consumable product of claim 2, wherein said first and second sacrificial seals are in fluid communication.

A consumable product according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein in said first compressed configuration said foam matrix is partially evacuated within said packaging element.

A consumable product according to any preceding claim, wherein at least the first sacrificial seal is in communication with a reservoir of aerosol-generating medium.

6. The consumable product of claim 5, wherein at least the first sacrificial seal is configured to fit into a corresponding port or opening of the reservoir of aerosol-generating medium.

7. The consumable product of claim 6, wherein the reservoir of aerosol-generating medium is separated from the packaging element of the consumable product prior to use.

6. The consumable product of claim 5, wherein said reservoir of aerosol-generating medium is contained within said packaging element.

A method of filling an aerosol-generating consumable product for use in an aerosol-generating device, comprising:
compressing and wrapping a foam matrix into a packaging element , said packaging element having at least one sacrificial seal;
connecting the at least one sacrificial seal to a reservoir of aerosol-generating medium;
releasing the compressed state of the foam matrix, which assists in uptake of the aerosol-generating medium from the reservoir.

10. A method of filling an aerosol-generating consumable product according to claim 9 , wherein compressing the foam matrix comprises partial vacuum compression.

A method of manufacturing an aerosol-generating consumable product for use in an aerosol-generating device, comprising:
providing a foam matrix and packaging elements impregnated with a medium for generating an aerosol ;
containing the foam matrix within the packaging element in a first compressed configuration;
The packaging element has a first sacrificial seal, and when the first sacrificial seal is opened, the packaging element holds the foam matrix in a second less compressible configuration, and at least the second The method wherein said foam matrix in a less compressible configuration allows fluid to pass therethrough.

An aerosol generator for use in generating an aerosol, comprising a consumable product according to claims 1-8.

13. The aerosol generating device of claim 12, wherein the consumable product is exposed to heat during use.

14. The aerosol generating device of Claim 13 when dependent on Claim 2, wherein the first and second sacrificial seals allow fluid communication to the mouthpiece end of the aerosol generating device.
