即ち、このように、本発明の―実施形態にかかるハウジングの成形方法によれば、係止部20に反開口部側へ張り出す突起28を成形しても、突起28を成形するための成形型40は成形型30に対して直交する下方へ引き抜かれる、つまり反開口部側へ抜き出すことがないため、係止部20の車両後方側に近接して、ランプハウジング1の取付け用リブ21のような延出部材を容易且つ同時に形成することが可能となる。
従って、ランプハウジング1の設計自由度を大幅に確保することができると同時に、ヘッドランプのレイアウトに対する自由度も増大させることができる。また、成形型数の増加を抑えることができ、ランプハウジング1の製造コストを簡単に軽減させることが可能となる。しかも、従来から使用されていたクリップ9をそのまま使用することもできて、実用上の利点が非常に大きいという特色がある。
なお、上記実施形態例は、ランプハウジング1の端縁6における下方に係止部20を形成する場合について説明したが、上記下方の他にランプハウジング1の端縁6における側方や上方等の外方側に係止部20を形成する場合にも同様に成立するものである。
また、係止部20における角孔22及び縦壁部23の数は、突起28に係合するクリップ9の幅に応じて適宜選定することができる。
さらに、ヘッドランプにおけるランプハウジングの他に、車両における他のランプ、例えば、リヤストップランプ、コンビネーションランプ等にも上記各実施形態例と同様に適用すれば、上記各実施形態例と同等の作用効果を奏することができるのはいうまでもない。
さらに、ランプハウジングに限らず一般的なハウジングの成形にも適用することができる。
