Abstract

技術分野
この発明は、半導体メモリ、リライタブルなＣＤ、ＤＶＤのような大容量記録媒体を利用し、ユーザーに安価にサービスを提供するのと引き替えに広告情報を提示する広告方法、これに用いる記録媒体及び表示機能を備えた電子機器に関する。
この発明はまた、ユーザーに対して何らかのイベント時に広告情報を配信して記録媒体に記録されている広告情報を更新し、広告情報を常に最新のものにする広告方法、これに用いる記録媒体及び表示機能を備えた電子機器に関する。
背景技術
背景技術として、日本国特許公開公報２０００−５９５４１号に記載された技術がある。この従来の技術は、テレホンカードのような可搬型の記録媒体に広告情報をその広告情報を再生する広告プログラムと共に記録し、その可搬型記録媒体をユーザーに配布し、ユーザーがこの可搬型記録媒体を端末装置にセットしたときに、広告プログラムを起動させて広告情報を端末装置のディスプレイに表示させるものである。さらに具体的には、テレホンカードの記録エリアに広告情報を広告プログラムと共に記録し、ユーザーに配布する。そしてユーザーがテレホンカードを用いて公衆電話をかけるときに広告プログラムを起動し、電話機のディスプレイに広告情報を表示させる技術である。
しかしながら、このような従来の可搬型記録媒体を利用した広告システムでは、記録媒体に記録されている広告情報や広告プログラムを書き換えることは考えておらず、ユーザーが積極的に新しい広告情報に書き換えて継続的に使用するということは期待できず、広告効果が一元的なものとなっていた。
発明の開示
本発明は、上記の技術的な課題を解決することを目的とするものであり、以下の構成を特徴とする。
本発明の第１の特徴は、電気的に書き換え可能な記録媒体に、他のプログラムに優先して起動する広告プログラムと当該広告プログラムにより表示される広告情報とを記録しておき、表示機能を備えた電子機器の専用スロットに記録媒体を装着したときに、当該電子機器が記録媒体の広告プログラムを読み込んで最初に起動し、広告情報をディスプレイに表示する広告方法である。
そして本発明の広告方法においては、記録媒体をコンピュータに用意された読み書き可能な専用スロットに装着し、広告情報を更新するようにすることができる。また本発明の広告方法においては、記録媒体の広告情報を、コンピュータが接続されている情報ネットワークを通じてダウンロードして更新するようにすることもできる。また本発明の広告方法においては、記録媒体をキオスク端末に用意された読み書き可能な専用スロットに装着し、広告情報を更新するようにすることもできる。さらに、本発明の広告方法においては、表示機能を備えた電子機器が接続されている通信回線を通じて専用のサービスサイトにアクセスし、当該サービスサイトに用意されている広告情報をダウンロードして記録媒体の広告情報を更新するようにすることもできる。
また本発明の広告方法においては、記録媒体としては可搬型で電気的に書き換え可能な半導体メモリ、光記録媒体、光磁気記録媒体又は磁気記録媒体を採用することができる。さらに具体的には、メモリカード、ＣＤ−Ｒ／Ｗ又はＤＶＤ−ＲＡＭを採用することができる。また、本発明の広告方法においては、表示機能を備えた電子機器として、デジタルスチールカメラ、ＭＰ３プレーヤ、ＣＤプレーヤ、ＤＶＤプレーヤ又は携帯電話に適用することができる。
本発明の広告方法によれば、ユーザーが表示機能を備えた電子機器の専用スロットに記録媒体を装着することにより、それにあらかじめ記録されている広告プログラムを当該電子機器から読み込んで最初に実行し、広告情報をディスプレイを表示する。したがって、表示機能を備えた電子機器の本来の機能、例えば、デジタルスチールカメラであれば撮影像の表示よりも先にまず当該デジタルカメラに関連する広告情報が表示されることになり、ＭＰ３プレーヤであれば記録媒体に記録されているＭＰ３の音楽の再生よりも先に当該ＭＰ３プレーヤや音楽に関連する広告情報が表示窓に表示されることになり、さらに携帯電話であれば起動画面として広告情報が最初に表示されることになる。
そして、広告情報は書き換え可能であるため、記録媒体を市価よりも安価に提供するのと引き替えに、広告情報を記録した記録媒体としてユーザーに配布し、また何らかの方法（例えば、携帯電話専用の通信回線を用いて配信し、インターネットによって配信し、あるいはキオスク端末でユーザーがコンテンツをダウンロードする際に広告情報を更新する方法等）で任意に、あるいは定期的に広告情報を更新するようにすることにより、常に最新の広告情報を表示機能を備えた電子機器の電源を投入したときにまず最初に表示させることができ、広告効果を高めることができる。
本発明の第２の特徴は、管理情報記録エリア、広告プログラム記録エリア、広告情報記録エリア、及び一般情報記録エリアを備えた電気的に書き換え可能な記録媒体である。そして本発明の電気的に書き換え可能な記録媒体としては、可搬型で電気的に書き換え可能な半導体メモリ、光記録媒体、光磁気記録媒体又は磁気記録媒体を採用することができ、さらに具体的には、メモリカード、ＣＤ−Ｒ／Ｗ又はＤＶＤ−ＲＡＭを採用することができる。
本発明の電気的に書き換え可能な記録媒体によれば、広告プログラムと共に広告情報を記録させ、これを装着した表示機能を備えた電子機器では優先的に広告情報を表示させることができるので、広告主が広告情報を記録させる代わりに記録媒体を通常の市価よりも安価に提供させることができ、記録媒体の需要をいっそう喚起することができる。
本発明の第３の特徴は、記録媒体を装着する専用スロットと、情報を表示するためのディスプレイと、専用スロットに装着された記録媒体にアクセスし、広告プログラムが記録されている記録媒体であるか否かを判定する記録媒体判定手段と、記録媒体判定手段が広告プログラムが記録されている記録媒体であると判定したときに、記録媒体の広告プログラム記録エリアから広告プログラムを読み出して最初に実行し、記録媒体の広告情報記録エリアに記録されている広告情報を読み出してディスプレイに表示する広告プログラム実行手段とを備えた表示機能を備えた電子機器である。そして本発明の表示機能を備えた電子機器においては、当該装置に対する本来の操作入力があったときに広告プログラムの実行を中止し、当該装置本来の動作に切り換える実行機能切換え手段を備えることができる。また本発明の表示機能を備えた電子機器においては、当該装置として、デジタルスチールカメラ、ＭＰ３プレーヤのようなデジタルオーディオプレーヤ、ＣＤプレーヤ、ＤＶＤプレーヤ又は携帯電話を採用することができる。
本発明の表示機能を備えた電子機器によれば、広告プログラムと広告情報が通常のコンテンツデータと共に記録された記録媒体を専用スロットに装着することにより、当該装置の本来の機能よりも優先的に広告情報を最初に表示させることができる。したがって、これに装着できる記録媒体に広告を提供しようとする広告主の意欲をそそり、ひいては記録媒体の需要をいっそう喚起することができる。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
以下、本発明の実施の形態を図に基づいて詳説する。図１は第１の実施の形態のデジタルスチールカメラ（ＳＤＣ）１を示している。このデジタルカメラ１は、フラッシュメモリカード、スマートカードあるいはスティック型メモリのようなメモリカード２を装着するための専用スロット（図示せず。ただし、通常のＳＤＣと同様のものである）を備えており、この専用スロットにメモリカード２が装着されることによってデジタルカメラ１の内部機能がメモリカード２の装着を検出し、後述する広告情報の表示処理を開始することになる。
図２に基づいて、第１の実施の形態のデジタルスチールカメラ１の機能構成について説明する。デジタルスチールカメラ１は、メモリ制御部３、広告プログラム実行部４、表示制御部５、ディスプレイ６、操作部７、カメラ制御部８から構成されている。
メモリ制御部３は、専用スロットに装着されたメモリカード２に対してそれに記録されているデータの読み込みを行い、またデータの書き込みを行う。広告プログラム実行部４は、メモリカード２の特定の広告プログラム記録エリアからメモリ制御部３を介して広告プログラムを読み出して実行し、同じくメモリカード２の広告情報記録エリアから広告情報を読み出してディスプレイ６に表示する。表示制御部５は、広告プログラム実行部４の指令により、又はカメラ制御部８の指令により表示情報をディスプレイ６に表示するための制御を行う。
操作部７は、このデジタルスチルカメラ１のスイッチのオン／オフ、レンズのピント調整操作、フラッシュライトのオン／オフ、ズーム操作等の撮影に必要な操作を行う部分である。カメラ制御部８は、デジタルスチールカメラ１の本来のカメラ機能を制御する部分であり、例えば操作部７によってシャッタ操作がされた場合、レンズを通してＣＣＤが受光し、そのＣＣＤの各画素が出力する信号をメモリカード２の所定の記録エリアに記録する制御を行う。なお、このカメラ制御部８による撮影機能は、通常のデジタルスチールカメラと同様のものであり、特に新規なものではない。
メモリカード２内のメモリエリアは、図３のメモリマップに示すものである。つまり、従来と同様、メモリカード２内のメモリエリアを管理するメモリ管理エリアＡ１、当該メモリカード２の本来のデータを記憶する一般情報エリアＡ２、本発明で特に用意された広告プログラムを記録するための広告プログラムエリアＡ３、そして広告情報を記録する広告情報エリアＡ４が設けられている。
次に、デジタルスチールカメラ１に対してメモリカード２が装着された場合の起動動作について説明する。図４はそのフローチャート示している。デジタルカメラ１の操作部７によって電源スイッチがオンされたことによって、図４に示すフローチャートが開始する（ステップＳ０）。電源スイッチがオンすると、カメラ制御部８は専用スロットにメモリカード２が装着されているかどうかを判断する（ステップＳ０５）。そしてメモリカード２を検出すると、広告プログラムが広告プログラムエリアＡ３に記録されているがどうかを判断し、広告プログラムが記録されていれば次のステップＳ１５に進む（ステップＳ１０）。
ステップＳ１５では、広告プログラム実行部４がメモリカード２のプログラムエリアＡ３から広告プログラムを読み込んで実行し、広告情報Ａ４に記録されている広告情報を読み出してディスプレイ５に表示させる（ステップＳ２０〜エス３０）。
これによって、図５に示すように、デジタルカメラ１のディスプレイ５には、メモリカード２に記録されている広告情報、ここでは、［お買い上げ、ありがとうございます。……」が表示されることになる。
この広告情報の表示は、ユーザーが操作部７から撮影操作を開始することによって中断され（ステップＳ３５，Ｓ４０）、それ以後は通常のデジタルカメラの撮影機能が開始される（ステップＳ４５）。そしてスイッチがオフされることによって、デジタルカメラ１はその機能を停止する（ステップＳ５０，Ｓ５５）。
上記のステップＳ０〜ステップＳ５５の処理は、ユーザーがデジタルカメラ１の操作部７の電源スイッチをオンする度に繰り返される。
ユーザーがデジタルカメラ１に装着したメモリカード２に撮影データが十分に蓄積されるならば、ユーザーは近年盛んになっているプリントサービス会社にインターネットを通じてプリントを依頼する。この依頼は、ユーザーの所有しているパーソナルコンピュータのＰＣカードスロットに直接に、あるいはアダプタを介して装着し、プリントサービス会社のホームページにアクセスし、メモリカード２の撮影データを転送することによって行う。プリントサービス会社では、インターネットを通じて受信した撮影データから印画紙にプリントを行い、そのプリントされた印画紙はユーザーの住居の近くのコンビニエンスストアのような取次店に配送する。したがって、ユーザーはその取次店に出向き、印画紙をプリントサービス代金と引き換えに受け取ることになる。
このようなサービスをユーザーが利用するとき、インターネットは通常双方向通信が可能であるため、プリントサービス会社ではその機会を利用して、契約している広告主の広告情報をユーザーのパーソナルコンピュータにダウンロードしてメモリカード２の広告情報エリアＡ４に書き込ませる。
通常、ユーザーは無断でこのように広告情報が自分の所有するメモリカード２に強制的に書き込まれることを好まない。しかし、ユーザーがメモリカード２を入手する際に通常の市販価格より格安、あるいは無料で提供され、その引き換え条件が広告情報の表示であることあらかじめ知らされているならば、この強制的な更新処理に不服を感じることはない。
このようにしてユーザーがデジタルカメラ１を用いて撮影し、メモリカード２に記録された画像のプリントをプリントサービス会社に依頼することによって、新たな広告情報がある場合にはそれをメモリカード２に強制的にダウンロードして更新させるならば、以後、ユーザーがデジタルカメラ１にメモリカード２を装着して撮影を開始する度に、図６に示すようにデジタルカメラ１のディスプレイ６に表示される広告情報が画面６Ａ→画面６Ｂ→画面６Ｃと更新されることになる。
この第１の実施の形態のデジタルスチールカメラによる広告方法によれば、メモリカードに専用のエリアを設け、当該エリアに広告プログラムと広告情報を記録させるようにして広告主の広告意欲を高め、またこのメモリカードを通常の市販価格よりも安価に若しくは無料で配布することによってユーザーのメモリカードの使用意欲を高め、ひいてはメモリカードの販売拡大を期待することができる。
次に、本発明の第２の実施の形態のＭＰ３プレーヤについて、図７に基づいて説明する。ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０は近年盛んに使用されるようになったデジタルオーディオプレーヤであるが、インターネットを通じて、あるいは音楽用ＣＤから音楽をメモリカード２にデータ圧縮して保存し、これをＭＰ３プレーヤ１０の専用スロットに装着し、再生スイッチ１１を操作することによってメモリカード２に記録されている音楽を再生することができる。
このようなメモリカード２を利用するデジタルオーディオプレーヤにあっては、そのディスプレイ１２に広告情報を表示させることによって音楽関連会社の宣伝効果を期待することができる。そこで、第２実施の形態では、ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０に使用するメモリカードにおいても、第１の実施の形態と同様に図３に示すようなメモリカード２を利用し、そのメモリカード２の広告プログラムエリアＡ３と広告情報エリアＡ４にそれぞれ広告プログラムと広告情報を記録させておくことにより、当該メモリカード２をＭＰ３プレーヤ１０に装着したときには、再生スイッチ１１を操作する前に、表示窓に音楽情報を表示する前に広告プログラムを起動させ、広告情報をディスプレイ１２に表示させる。
本実施の形態のＭＰ３プレーヤ１０は、図８に示す機能構成を備えている。すなわち、ディスプレイ１２、メモリ制御部１３、広告プログラム実行部１４、表示制御部１５、操作部１７、音楽再生制御部１８、そして音出力部１９から構成されている。
このＭＰ３プレーヤ１０におけるメモリ制御部１３、広告プログラム実行部１４、表示制御部１５及びディスプレイ１２は図２に示した第１の実施の形態のデジタルスチールカメラ１の対応する要素と同様の機能を備えている。そして操作部１７は、ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０に通常装備されている再生スイッチ１２、早送りスイッチ２０、早戻しスイッチ２１そして停止スイッチ２２等から成る。
この実施の形態のＭＰ３プレーヤ１０にある広告情報の表示、そして音楽再生機能は図９に示すフローチャートにしたがう。すなわち、ユーザーがＭＰ３プレーヤ１０にメモリカード２を装着し、電源ボタンを押すことにより図９のフローチャートが開始する（ステップＳ１００）。ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０の電源スイッチをオンされた時、音楽再生制御部１８がメモリカード２の装着の有無を判断し、メモリカード２が装着されている場合にはさらに、広告プログラム及び広告情報の記録エリアにデータが記録されているかどうかを判断する（ステップＳ１０５，Ｓ１１０）。
ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０の専用スロットにメモリカード２が装着されており、そのメモリカード２の広告プログラムエリアＡ３、広告情報エリアＡ４それぞれに広告プログラムと広告情報が記録されている場合には、音楽再生制御部１８が広告プログラム実行部１４に対して広告プログラムの読み込みと起動を指令する。これを受けて広告プログラム実行部１４はメモリ制御部１３を通じてメモリカード２から広告プログラムと広告情報を読み込み、広告プログラムを実行し、広告情報をディスプレイ１２に表示する。なお、このデジタルオーディオプレーヤであるＭＰ３プレーヤ１０の場合には音出力部１９を備えているので、広告情報として表示用データと共に音データを記録しておき、広告プログラム実行部１４がメモリカード２から広告用の表示情報と音情報を読み出し、ディスプレイ１２に広告情報を表示すると共に音楽再生制御部１８を通じて音出力部１９から広告用の音情報出力させるようにすることもできる（ステップＳ１１５〜Ｓ１３０）。図７は、ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０が広告情報をディスプレイ１２に表示している状態を示している。
このようにして広告情報を表示させている状態で、ＭＰ３プレーヤ１０の音楽再生制御部１８はメモリカード２の一般情報エリアＡ２に記録されている音楽データを読み込み、その読み込みが終了することによって広告情報の出力を中止し（ステップＳ１３５〜Ｓ１４５）、音楽データを再生し、音出力部１９から出力する（ステップＳ１５０）。
このようにして音楽を再生している間に電源スイッチがオフされ、あるいは停止スイッチが押されることによって音楽再生を終了し、このフローチャートを終了する（ステップＳ１５５，Ｓ１６０）。
これらのＭＰ３プレーヤ１０に使用されるメモリカード２の場合、そのメモリカード２の広告情報エリアＡ４に記録されている広告情報を更新するには、次の方法による。音楽データのダウンロードは通常キオスク端末にメモリカード２を挿入し、そのキオスク端末に所定の料金を投入することによってユーザーの望む音楽をダウンロードする方法が主である。また高速回線でインターネットを利用している場合には、ユーザーの所有するパーソナルコンピュータにメモリカード２を装着しておき、音楽配信サイトにアクセスし、所定の手続によってユーザーの望む音楽データをダウンロードしてメモリカード２に記録することもある。
キオスク端末を利用して音楽データをメモリカード２に書き込む場合、キオスク端末が、メモリカード２が装着されたことを検出し、メモリ管理エリアＡ１の情報から当該メモリカード２が広告プログラムエリアＡ３と広告情報エリアＡ４を備えているものと判断した場合、キオスク端末側であらかじめ広告主から依頼されている最新の広告情報をそのメモリカード２の広告情報エリアＡ４に強制的に書き込み、これに続いてユーザーの指定した音楽データを一般情報エリアＡ２に書き込むことになる。これによってユーザーがキオスク端末から所望の音楽データをダウンロードしたとき、同時に広告情報も同じメモリカード２に記録されることになる。したがって、ユーザーがＭＰ３プレーヤ１０にこのメモリカード２を装着し、音楽を再生しようとすると、上述した処理によって新たな広告情報がディスプレイ１２に最初に表示されることになるのである。
またユーザーがインターネットを通じて音楽配信サイトから所望の音楽データをダウンロードする際には、音楽配信サイト側からメモリカード２が広告プログラム記録エリアＡ３と広告情報記録エリアＡ４を備えたメモリカードであるかどうかをメモリ管理エリアＡ１のデータから判断し、広告プログラム記録エリアと広告情報記録エリアを備えたメモリカード２であると判断したときには、上記したキオスク端末と同様に最初に広告情報をダウンロードすることによってメモリカード２の広告情報エリアＡ４の広告情報を更新し、ついでユーザーが指定する音楽データをダウンロードして一般情報エリアＡ２に書き込むことになる。
ユーザーは何の利益もなしに自分の所有するメモリカードに広告情報が強制的に記録されることを許すものではないが、メモリカードそのものを広告主が一般市販価格より安価に、あるいは無料でユーザーに提供するようにした場合、ユーザは広告情報が最初に表示されることを納得した上でそのメモリカードを入手することになるので、メモリカードに広告情報が新たに書き込まれることについて不満を抱くことは避けられる。
このようにして広告情報が音楽データの更新と同時に更新されたメモリカード２をＭＰ３プレーヤ１０に装着した場合、図１０に示すように広告情報の画面は１６Ａ→１６Ｂ→１６Ｃのように順次に更新されることになる。
これにより、第２の実施の形態のＭＰ３プレーヤ１０を用いた広告方法でも、ユーザーは広告情報が表示される点を我慢すればメモリカードを安価に入手できることになり、また広告企業は広告効果の高まりを期待することができることより、メモリカードの需要が大いに喚起されるものとなる。
次に、本発明の第３の実施の形態の携帯電話について、図１１を参照して説明する。図１１に示す携帯電話３０は、メモリカード２を装着する専用のスロット（図示せず）を備えたものである。そしてこの携帯電話３０は専用スロットにメモリカード２が装着されることによってそのメモリカード２に記録されているデータを読み出し、種々の機能を実行するもので、図１２に示す機能構成を備えている。すなわち、メモリ制御部３１、広告プログラム実行部３２、表示制御部３３、ディスプレイ３４、操作部３５、電話機能制御部３６、そして送受話部３７を備えている。
メモリ制御部３１、広告プログラム実行部３２、表示制御部３３及びディスプレイ３４はそれぞれ、第１の実施の形態のデジタルカメラ１における対応する各要素と同様の機能を果たす。そして携帯電話３０の特徴的な部分としての操作部３５は、電源スイッチ、テンキー、メモリ操作スイッチ、ディスプレイ３４の操作スイッチ等、一般的なインターネット通信ができる携帯電話と同様の操作ボタンから成る。電話機能制御部３６は、この操作部３５からの操作入力によって電話をかけたり、かかってきた電話に応答したり、電子メールを作成して送信したり、受信したりするための諸機能を制御し、送受話部３７から音声や信号音を出力し、またディスプレイ３４にメッセージや画像を表示し、さらにユーザーの音声を取り込んで相手先に送信したりする。
この実施の形態の携帯電話３０が備える広告情報の表示機能は図１３のフローチャートでしたがう。近年、携帯電話の機能は格段に向上し、ＰＤＡと同等の多機能化に向かっている。そのためには大量のメモリを必要とするが、メモリカードはこのような必要に答えるために最適なものである。したがってメモリカードが携帯電話に不可欠なものとなるのは容易に予測することができる。
