PURPOSE:To enable the performance of a printer mechanical part to be thoroughly displayed by removing a necessity for execution of thinning-out process when printing process is executed, by a method wherein thinning-out process is executed to a printing pattern in a character generator when initial action is performed, the printing pattern is stored in a storage means and thereafter, when thinning-out printing is instructed, printing is performed by the printing pattern in the storage means. CONSTITUTION:A memory for a thinned-out character generator 9 and a starting control part 11 are provided to a printer control apparatus 10. When a power source of the printer control apparatus 10 is closed or when initial actin is performed, the starting control part 11 starts a thinning-out program 8b stored in a program memory 2, and successively reads a printing pattern stored in CG 4. After execution of thinning-out process, the printing pattern is stored in the memory for thinned-out CG 9. After completing the thinning-out process on all the printing pattern stored in CG 4 thus, the printer control apparatus 10 starts ordinary printing operation. Further, for instance, a random access memory RAM is used for the memory for CG 9.
