Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a dustproof countermeasure for a transmission shaft by constituting an intermediate shaft for transmitting a steering signal to a rear wheel steering mechanism from a protecting pipe and the transmission shaft arranged inside the protecting pipe and constituting the intermediate shaft to be bendable. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate shaft 40 is constituted of a protecting pipe 46 and a real transmission shaft 42 which is made of metal and concentrically arranged inside the protecting pipe 46. The intermediate shaft 40 is arranged along the vicinity of the under surface at the center part of the floor panel 41 of a car body, and in order to suppress the influence of the elastic deformation of the car body, said intermediate shaft 40 is divided at three parts at the position corresponding to the longitudinal direction of a car compartment, position in the vicinity of the front side of a fuel tank 43 at the rear edge of the car compartment, and the position in the vicinity of the rear edge of the fuel tank 43. In the divided part, the edge parts of the transmission shaft divided bodies 42a are connected through a universal joint 44, and the edge parts of the protecting pipe divided bodies 46a are connected in airtight form by an expandable boot 48A.
