Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate whether the change of the reflectance and the transmissivity of reading light depends on a recording signal or not by irradiating more than two wave lengths or white light on an optical recording member as the reading light and taking the ratio of the light intensity more than two wavelengths of the reflected light or the transmitted light as a reading signal. CONSTITUTION:The reading lights lambda1, lambda2 emitted from light source parts 1, 2 are synthesized by mirrors 3, 4 and transmitted through the recording signal part 7 of the recording member 6 as 1 synthesized reading light 5. The transmitted light is divided into wavelength components lambda1, lambda2 by a spectral element 10 and respectively reach detectors 11, 12. The output of the detector enters a computing element 14 and is outputted as a wavelength intensity ratio lambda1/lambda2. Herein, the two light sources 1, 2 are used and the same effect may be obtained by using a single white light source. Thereby, the signal and a stain can be discriminated.
