Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the holding strength of a plug by forming the plug so that a cross sectional shape of a fitting projecting part fitted to a receptacle in the plug becomes a regular polygon exceeding a square. CONSTITUTION:When a plug 4 is inserted into a receptacle 2, a pair of projecting parts 7 of a fitting projecting part 7 are engaged to a notch 11 of a guide hole part 8, and the plug 4 is locked surely to the receptacle 1. Also, the fitting projecting part 7 of the plug 4 and the guide hole part 8 of the receptacle 1 are regular octagons being regular polygons exceeding squares of the same size, therefore, the plug 4 can be inserted into the receptacle 1 irrespective of its direction, and without looking at the receptacle 1, the plug 4 can be inserted easily in a free position. Moreover, since a projecting part 10 is provided on each face of the plug fitting and projecting part 7, it can be selected and used freely, wear as a whole of the projecting part 10 inserted into a clearance grove scarcely occurs, and the holding strength of the plug 4 is also maintained in a satisfactory state extending over a long period of time.
