Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement in safety at the time of production of an ATWS (Anticipated Transient Without Scram) by forming channels for easing climb of coolant in the inside of control rod guide tubes. CONSTITUTION:A reactor core upper mechanism 3 is provided in the upper part of a reactor core 2 immersed in liquid sodium 1 in a reactor vessel, and many cylindrical control rod guide tubes 4 are arranged therein. The lower part of the guide tube 4 is immersed in liquid sodium 1 and a control rod 6 supported by a control rod support mechanism 5 is arranged therein. Plural linear channels 4a are formed along the axial direction in the inside of the guide tube 4. Liquid sodium 1 is positively made to climb along the channels 4a, thermal expansion of the control rod support mechanism 5 by the rise of temperature of liquid sodium 1 is promoted and the safety of reactor inherency is improved by inserting the control rods 6 in the reactor core 2.
