CONSTITUTION:A reactor core upper mechanism 3 is provided in the upper part of a reactor core 2 immersed in liquid sodium 1 in a reactor vessel, and many cylindrical control rod guide tubes 4 are arranged therein. The lower part of the guide tube 4 is immersed in liquid sodium 1 and a control rod 6 supported by a control rod support mechanism 5 is arranged therein. Plural linear channels 4a are formed along the axial direction in the inside of the guide tube 4. Liquid sodium 1 is positively made to climb along the channels 4a, thermal expansion of the control rod support mechanism 5 by the rise of temperature of liquid sodium 1 is promoted and the safety of reactor inherency is improved by inserting the control rods 6 in the reactor core 2.
