PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer for optical information recording and disc, consisting of specific two kind of recurring units, having excellent heat resistance and transparency and capable of recording signals by laser beam or carrying out readout of signals recorded by reflection and permeation of laser beam. CONSTITUTION:The aimed copolymer having recurring units expressed by formula I and II, molar ratio of units expressed by formulas I and II of 1:99-99:1 and preferably 13,000-50,000 viscometric average molecular weight and obtained by subjecting 99-1mol.% 1,1-bis(4-hydroxy-3-tert.-butylphenyl)-1-phenylethane to carbonate binding with 1-99mol.% bisphenol AP.
