Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the light stability of the title compd. by substituting an interlayer cation in a clay mineral having cation exchangeability for specified org. dye and a metal cation. CONSTITUTION:The colored lamellar compd. is obtained by substituting the interlayer cation in the clay mineral consisting essentially of a lamellar compd. having cation exchangeability for a cationic or anionic org. dye and the metal cation such as Fe<3+> and Ti<4+>. The colored lamellar compd. colors brightly and stably, and is useful as the colorant having light resistance. The clay mineral consisting essentially of a lamellar compd. having cation exchangeability is dissolved in a polar solvent, and the soln. of a cationic or anionic org. dye and the soln. of the metal ions such as Fe<3+> or Ti<4+> are added to the mixture to obtain the colored lamellar compd. An interlayer cation is the exchanged, and the compd. is separated from the soln. and dried.
