Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a can body by reciprocating a ram carriage means and a ram means along the longitudinal axial line so as to manufacture the can body by thrusting a can body stock through a can forming/ironing die. CONSTITUTION: The ram 14 is mounted onto the ram carriage 12, and the ram 14 is made to pass through a redraw device 16 which has a cup sending means and a housing which holds the can body forming/ironing die at the time of the advancing process. A redraw carriage 40 and a redraw sleeve 42 are reciprocated on supporting posts 70, 72, the can body stock is brought into contact with the ram 14, and the can body is formed by thrusting the can body stock through the can body forming/ironing die within the housing 18.
