Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain (meth)acrylamide which is an important material in industry and suitably used in the petroleum third recovery or adhesives, by allowing a microorganism in Fusarium to act on (meth)acrylonitrile in an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism in Fusarium capable of hydrating nitrile, preferably Fusarium oxysporum AK29 (FERM P-9557) is dispersed in water or a phosphate buffer solution. Then, (meth)acrylonitrile is added to the dispersion to effect hydration to give the subject (meth)acrylamide.
