Abstract
PURPOSE:To seal a lid, and dewater and dry up a cask inside with a remote handling, by covering the cask itself with the lid, by sealing the lid with the remote sealing measures, by draining a water through a draining valve and by supplying a pressurizing fluid through a pressurizing valve. CONSTITUTION:A transportation and storage container 21 of nuclear fuels is placed submergedly in a pit 51 water. A lid 24 is put onto a cask 22 and a remote handling tool 52 is inserted into a hexagonal hole of a screw 32 and therewith the lid 24 seals the cask 22. A drain valve 28 is closed and a leak from the lid 24 is checked with pressurization of the cask through a pressurization valve 27 via a bent piping 53. A pressurized air is supplied into the cask 22 from the valve 27 and a remaining water in the cask is drained through a drain piping 54. Thereafter, a freon-alcohol is injected into the cask through the valve 28. After completion of residual water removal, the valve 28 is connected to a vacuum system to vacuumize the cask 22 inside and the valve 27 is opened to introduce an He gas to fill up the cask with it. Therewith, opening and closing of the lid 24, and dewatering and drying up of the cask 22 inside can be performed remotely.
