Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the rupture of a container and store and preserve an oxygen generating compound over a long time by placing in a gas impermeable container the compound capable of readily generating oxygen by decomposition or reaction, together with a deoxidating agent. CONSTITUTION:A compound which can readily generate oxygen by decomposition or reaction is placed for storage in a gas impermeable container, together with a deoxidating agent. The deoxidating agent absorbs oxygen generated by the decomposition of the oxygen generating compound itself during storage so as to prevent a pressure rise within the container, its rupture and swelling or breakage of a bag-like container, whereby the oxygen generating compound can be stably stored and preserved over a long time. As the oxygen generating compound, the peroxides such as hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid or the salts of peroxide such as sodium percarbonate and potassium percarbonate, are used. As for the deoxidating agent, there are provided the agents having the faculty of absorbing oxygen which chiefly consists of a composition containing sulfite, hydrogen sulfite, dithionite, etc., a composition containing ferric salt or a composition containing powdered metal such as crushed particles of ion.
