Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic resonance imaging method imparting good contrast and a good S/N ratio, by exciting and saturating the spin in a predetermined thickness while applying the first inclined magnetic field in the direction vertical to the plane of a receiving coil and exciting the spin in a slice having a certain thickness while applying the second inclined magnetic field in the direction parallel to said plane. CONSTITUTION:The first inclined magnetic field is applied in an X-direction with respect to the Z-Y plane of a receiving coil 2 to excite the spin in the predetermined thickness of a human body 1 in the X-direction. By continuously applying the first inclined magnetic field, the phase of the spin falls into disorder and the spin of the first region 7a is saturated at last. A 90 deg.-pulse is applied while the second inclined magnetic field is applied in a Z-direction. By this method, the spin in the slice of the human body 1 having a certain thickness in the Z-direction is excited but, since the sin of the first region 7a is saturated, the spin only of the second region 7b is excited. This operation is repeated while the intensity of the third inclined magnetic field is anithmetically changed to obtain a plurality of spin echo signals S which are, in turn, subjected to two-dimensional Fourier transform with respect to a time and the intensity of the third inclined magnetic field to perform the imaging of a desired slice.
